I was an anti capitalist blue collar worker most of my life. Now retired, any beneficial changes in the American economic system will be too late to benefit me personally. But I do believe that American style capitalism is a scourge on the earth. In my earlier life I was active in a number of radical and reformist movements ( I was a delegate for George McGovern). However, I am not fanatical about it, and think that any reforms that benefit working people and the poor (mostly the same folks where I came from )are worth fighting for.
President Obama is a great disappointment to me. I thought he had the best chance since Roosevelt to make some long awaited changes in the system. That hasn't happened. So,once again we are facing a choice, as I see it, between the lesser of two evils. Obama's opponents are scary buffoons. So we are left hoping that Obama, a right wing democrat, will prevail. What is needed, I believe, is a new political party offering a vision of a new economic system. In the meantime the buffoons must be stopped.
