It Is Time to Take Back Our Government

To preserve our nation, vote against politicians who signed Grover Norquist’s pledge.

Politicians who pledge to Grover Norquist have failed in their pledge to uphold the Constitution and to the American people.

Norquist's real mission has been government that serves corporate America and the very rich.

Grover Norquist is fast becoming the man everyone loves to hate – except those who fear him. Norquist, the leader of Americans for Tax Reform, is both the architect and enforcer of the Republican Party’s obsessive opposition to all taxes – an obsession that threatens to drive America off a fiscal cliff.

Every Republican running for president (except John Huntsman) has signed Norquist’s no-tax pledge. So have 13 governors, 1,300 state legislators, 40 of the 47 Republicans in the Senate, and 236 of the 242 Republicans in the House.

Norquist's five point battle plan, Republican elected officials aggressively targeting Norquist's "five pillars" of the Democratic Party's support, Unions, Trial lawyers, Voter registration groups, Progressive organizations receiving federal funding, and “Big City" mayors.

Norquist’s control of Republican Party forces an upward mobility of the nation’s wealth and the demise of the middle class. As a result, out nation is becoming a two class society.

This very difficult battle for survival is up to us. We must work diligently so “… that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.”

The GOP stole elections in 2000 and 2004. That resulted in a catastrophe that will be difficult to recover..

They plan to steal the presidential election in 2012.They know they can’t win on level field. State by state they are passing laws to prevent voting rights of groups like the elderly, the poor, minorities, the rural and students to vote in the next election--and potentially even have an effect on the election's outcome. These are "laws across more than a dozen states designed to severely reduced voter participation." And the voters from these groups are Democratic voting blocs.

Seventeen states require photo ID to vote. Nineteen laws and two executive actions in 14 states dominated by Republicans, as a result, more than five million eligible voters will have a harder time participating in the 2012 election.
These states have 171 electoral votes. 270 electoral votes are necessary to elect the president.

States requiring photo ID to vote: Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Kansas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas.

States that reduce early or absentee voting: Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.

States making voter registration more difficult: Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, and Florida.

More than 21 million citizens — 11 percent of the population — do not have government ID cards. Many of them are poor, or elderly, or black and Hispanic and could have a hard time navigating the bureaucracy to get a card.

The US Attorney General, Eric Holder, has started an investigation into this action by the Republicans. It is too little too late. Most of the federal court judges were appointed by Republican presidents. They will rule on the side of the Republicans and delay action. By the time a favorable ruling is made, it will be too late. The 2012 election will be over.

Watch Ed Schultz video on voter suppression. It is an eye opener.

To prevent another stolen election by the Republicans, we have much work ahead. We must work diligently on voter registration and helping disenfranchised voters get needed documents to vote (birth certificates and photo IDs). Cost of birth certificates and photo IDS would be a form of poll tax which is illegal. They should be free.

This is a magnanimous task and should be initiated soon.

It would be great if the “99%” would get involved in this.
