Although about 80% of Americans claim they are Christian, less than 30% are regular church-goers, and most of them are elderly. I have 4 grandchildren who were brought up Catholic. Not one of them ever goes to mass now. They are all college grads. They have not opened a book or a newspaper since they graduated. Do they vote? My daughters are not sure. The world gets more and more secular every day. It is frightening to know that the young girls who openly engaged in sex at Woodstock are now grandmothers! I do not go to church either, but I am a deist. I do believe in God, in Heaven. Is there really such a thing as an atheist? I doubt it. We all believe there is a universe. I believe whoever or whatever built this universe is God. Atheists believe the universe built itself. NOTHING BUILDS ITSELF! My favorite poem is from Coleridge. "He prayeth best who loveth best All things both great and small; For the dear God who loveth us, He made and loveth all." Great poem! God bless.

I, personally, am pro-life. However, since I can not become pregnant, I believe that every woman has a right to have an abortion. Ronald Reagan was not one of my favorite presidents. He gave the richest Americans an income tax cut from 69% to 28%, a reduction of  4l%. Is it any wonder we have a l4.3 TRILLION DOLLAR NATIONAL DEBT? The only intelligent thing Reagan ever said in his life was, "I noticed that everyone who is pro-choice HAS ALREADY BEEN BORN!" God bless.

Is it possible that the Tea Party and the Republican Party have gone stark raving mad? How can they possibly win the election in 20l2? They brazenly want to kill Medicare and at the same time they want to give the wealthiest Americans another l0% tax cut. They, also, want to break up unions. If we lived in a sane country (which we do not), only the 2% wealthiest Americans would vote for the Republicans in 20l2. I really do not see why any middle-class voter would vote Republican. I thought jobs or the lack of creating jobs would hurt the Democrats but it seems as if the Republicans have disemboweled themselves by declaring war on Medicare and trying to break up unions.  Insane? It sure it. I love it. I can't believe any political party would be that inept. It is too good to be true. It is true. It is good--For us Democrats. God bless.

It is strange but some people just do not understand that money is worth only what it will buy. Now if the U.S. govt. gave a million dollar check to every American family, we would all be millionaires. Right? We could all retire. Right? No, wrong. Okay, all families receive a million dollars. We all retire. You go to buy gas. No gas at all. Remember, we are all retired. You go to buy food. Same story. No food. YOU HAVE A MILLION DOLLARS, AND YOU ARE GOING TO STARVE TO DEATH!!! Now you know. MONEY IS WORTH ONLY WHAT IT WILL BUY. Money is, AS WE ALL NOW, BUYING LESS AND LESS EVERY DAY. I doubt if even one American knows what our money will buy this afternoon, let alone what money will buy tomorrow. God bless.

Are we heading for "runaway" inflation? It is possible. I hope we never do see this. Quite a few South Amrerican countries have had "runaway" inflation. I read recently that this one country had "runaway" inflation and the smallest denomination paper bill they printed had a value of ONE BILLION DOLLARS. Can you imagine a loaf of bread costing l0 BILLION DOLLARS? Bill Gates, our richest man, has about 45 BILLION DOLLARS, not quite enough to buy 5 loaves of bread!!! Nightmare? It certainly is and it would make all our current money in banks completely worthless. I, as with most old people, have all my money in certificates of deposit with banks. Bill Gates and I finally have something in commom. "Runaway inflation" will WIPE US BOTH OUT!!! God bless.

I am in favor of offshore oil drilling. All my money is in certificates of deposits with banks. I wonder if I would  be for offshore oil drilling if all my money was tied up in a hotel, motel, restaurant, etc. on a beach? I guess that is why I am a liberal Democrat. I often think what is best for all Americans and not just what is best for selfish me. We have some wonderful, very wealthy liberals such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Ted Turner, etc. who believe that all wealthy people SHOULD PAY A MUCH HIGHER RATE INCOME TAX, INHERITANCE TAX, ETC. They are, unfortunately, a small minority. Over 90% of the very wealthy BELIEVE THEY PAY TOO HIGH A RATE OF INCOME, INHERITANCE TAX, ETC. Andrew Carnegie said, "Any man who dies rich dies disgraced."  It would appear that the vast majority of the wealthy wish to die as disgracefully as possible. God bless.

Why are we so afraid of the truth? Why do we watch biased news programs such as Fox News? THE TRUTH IS WE ARE AFRAID OF THE TRUTH. WE ALL KNOW THE TRUTH. The truth is Obama is a legal,  U.S. President. By believeing Obama was born in Kenya, you have the consolation of saying we never had a black, U. S. President. The truth, of course, is we NEVER DID HAVE A BLACK , U. S. PRESIDENT! Obama's mother was white so Obama is our FIRST BIRACIAL PRESIDENT. I am 90. When I was young, Italian-Americans married Italian-Americans. German-Americans married German-Americans, Whites married whites. For a long time now more and more whites are marrying blacks. That is a good trend. These inter-racial marriages will end something that we have had in this country since the first American bought the first black slave from Africa. What will all these inter-racial marriages end? THEY WILL FINALLY END RACISM IN AMERICA! God bless.

Tea Party members refuse to tell us how we can get rid of our l4.3 TRILLION DOLLAR DEBT. There are only two ways to get rid of this debt. The U.S. govt. must stop spending more money that they take in, and we will have to slightly increase income taxes on all tax payers who are fortunate enough to make enough money to pay income taxes. I understand that almost 50 % of American workers do not earn enough money on their jobs to pay income taxes so the burden will be on all of us who do earn enough to pay this tax every year.  We can not raise the taxes now until we get everyone working again and this horrible recession is over. It took us over 220 years to get this l4.3 TRILLION DOLLAR NATIONAL DEBT. By slightly incresing income taxes it may take us 220 years to pay off this l4.3 TRILLION. We Americans all got together to win World War II.  There is no reason why we can not win the war to rid us of our national debt. God bless.

I am sorry. I am 90. My eyesight is not too good. I am a fairly decent speller but when I read some of my posts a few days after writing them, I see many errors. Sorry. Republicans are in trouble. I watch the news every evening and I can not believe how the Republican leaders lie to their viewers over and over. Also, it is their omission of facts that, also, confound me. I saw their leader one night Boehner claim that the U. S. health system, not Obama's system, is the best in the world. The truth is, according to AP, it is the most EXPENSIVE HEALTH SYSTEM and health experts rate it anywhere from 22nd to 24th as the best health system. Republican leaders, Fox News, etc. can lie, distort etc.  all they can. The truth will eventually come out. The great writerEmile Zola said it best, "If you shut up the truth and bury it under the ground, it will but grow and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it burst through it will blow up everything in its way." I hope I live long enough to see Fox News,Republican leaders, etc. implode! God bless.

I respect your post above. It is refreshing to see a post contrary to mine. We are currently engaged in "class warfare". This "war" was started by Tea Party backed governors of Wisc., Ohio, Mich, Fla. etc.when they all tried to pass legislation to "break" unions of teachers, firemen, policemen, etc.  Republican Congressmen also voted into office with Tea Party support came out with a law that would force people 65 and over to be given vouchers that would require them to pay $6,000 to pay their Medicare health bills. At the same time, the Republican Party voted to give the richest Americans another l0% tax cut.It is difficult, if not impossible, to win elections without the support of teachers, firemen, policemen, old people, etc. and their families, loved ones, friends, etc. The Republican leaders in Congress claim that a tax cut for the rich helps create jobs. In 2007, we had an extended tax cut for the rich. Did it create jobs? NO. WE LOST 7 MILLION JOBS IN 2007.  In the 8 years Bill Cltinton was President, he hit the rich with the largest TAX INCREASE IN HISTORY. Did we lose jobs? NO. WE GAINED 22 MILLION JOBS IN THE 8 YEARS CLINTON WAS PRESIDENT.If you continue to read my posts "Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free"--Free from being a Tea Party member. I respect your post. I hope you respect mine. God bless you.
