so those 12-14 million illegals were all brought here when they were 6 months old?

no - man you try to paint a picture .... but the truth is, there are 10-12 million or 15 million or 17 million (nobody knows) illegals in the US that are here illegally

they're criminals by being here, by stealing SS numbers, by working under the table and around the system. they do not want to be citizens, that much is clear

    S. 744 (113th): Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act

I read that is passed the Senate, stalled in House. On the surface, it has some good points. I wonder why it was sank? Do you know/remember?

Maybe because of all the laws we have right now that, if followed, would show its not a bad system as it sits? The problem is that the laws are not enforced.

That's what i don't understand .... ya'll don't mind if immigration laws are broken. You don't mind that income tax laws are broken, you don't even mind if felonies are committed to steal SS numbers. What else don't you mind happening?

I think the number I read was 1.3 million SS numbers stolen .... minus the 14 million illegals here (or more) and you've still got 12.7 million or so that do not pay taxes. Sorry the facts don't support your theory that they all just steal SS numbers and pay taxes. C'mon ... that was pretty hokey, you gotta admit.

You live in Arkansas. That used to be Quapaw territory before the white man came and forcibly removed them. That's what drives me nuts about you people. You live in a state that committed genocide and yet you believe that you have the right to tell someone else that they are illegal?!

who did the Quapaw kill to take the Arkansas territory ? do you know ?

Many undocumented workers use made up social security numbers in order to get a legit job.

that's a federal crime, right, a felony? good gawd I thought ya'll said these illegals were good honest people?

but lets assume for a moment they do all commit felonies just so they can pay into the system .... then why the heck aren't they trying to go through legal immigration and actually BECOME citizens ?

not one of you has answered that question - why ?

Anyone who has ever worked in the United States, by law, must leave the United States and reapply for a Visa before being able to begin the process of legalization.

they leave - go - and when you come back legal all the problems of being ILLEGAL including forging/stealing social security numbers goes away

what other crimes/felonies do ya'll justify doing in order to not have to become US citizens? good gawd

Or we can just grant them all work visas and give them an opportunity to eventually become citizens or permanent legal residents. You know - like the bipartisan Senate bill that the House refused to act on did.

two questions - what other country on the planet issues 15 million work VISA's and where is this bill that was submitted and killed, what was the name of it because I don't remember it.

There is the option of them all becoming US citizens or going home. You know - like the law says, breaking the laws of this country can't be allowed. If we justify it for one person's belief then you have to justify everyone breaking all laws because of everyone's beliefs.

These are remedial questions and comments.

Should be easy to answer then - why are illegals still illegal after 10 or 15 or 20 years? Why in the world ? there HAS to be reasons ..... what can we think of ? Legally there are no benefits to being illegal .... legally, people need to be citizens and everything will come easier because, well its legal, right ?

Illegal = harder, more difficult situations. So why stay illegal ?

    I'm a trans-national Dutch

Was born as a US citizen but have always self identified as a remote islander and therefore i shouldn't have to pay taxes or do things US citizens are required to do. Why don't my feeling matter?

PR you're going to have to stop the hate and name calling if you want any response. All you are doing is showing your true colors, and very well I might add and that's NOT a positive for you or the left.

The government doesn't botch anything. Good ideas are compromised to ruination because conservative live with the idea that no matter how they accumulate wealth it is theirs to manage unilaterally, taxing is wrong and people are expendable.

Chet Ruminski really ? I can't think of anything the Govt does better than the private sector. Ever.

Schmidt my experience has been just the opposite. A Doctors visit paid in cash is far cheaper than one paid with insurance. Obviously cash goes right into the meat of things, while insurance has to be claimed and fought over. That was something Obamacare was a disaster on - small practices had to hire people just to fill out forms and do paperwork.

I think there should be some standard to pricing on medical services, but then how to accomplish that is very complex. Someone pays a lot for your medicare/medicaid expenses .... your surgeries, medications etc. Who pays all that? Its not cheap .... now multiply that times 25 million or 50 million people which is how Bernie Sanders people wants to do things (Medicare for everyone)

The cost is trillions in projections. Its simply unsustainable.

Dutch you don't have to like Trump, but only an idiot would say he's not a masterful businessman. What he's accomplished few others in US history has. we can make every excuse for it ... but the man is ranked as one of the top 20 entrepreneurs of all time.

I wonder how you'll like life in another country after living in the US and having what we offer here. I don't disagree there are flaws and I agree with some of the ones you point out - and every one has Fed Govt attached to them.

The core reason is money. They don't earn it, they're not accountable for it, and so they spend it in crazy ways no sane person ever would.

Trump is a money man ... I hope he can restore some sanity to it all.

conservativecat, Do you think people control their on Destiny and that they can be anything they want if they apply themselves and work hard enough?

To a degree absolutely. There are limitations. My son will never play in the NBA, it doesn't matter how much effort he puts into it over the next decade, it 100% absolutely will not happen. So in that respect .... his "destiny" of playing in the NBA is already out of his reach.

However .... he could go to college and play Div I basketball IF he put his heart, mind and soul into it. That's maximizing his life, that's working heard and being dedicated and getting the most out of it.

That's realistic for everyone - work hard, try hard, achieve more .....

I thought you were implying that a motive of illegals was to get paid under the table and avoid paying taxes. That may be the conditions illegals encounter but I don't think it is a motivating factor.

Then why are they still illegal? Why are they not legal? Why haven't they found a way to citizenship or went back to their home country - why would they want to stay in a country that's not their homeland illegally ?

wwjd I don't see another way. If Trump blows families up by deporting all illegals ... I think that's a failure, I think the US loses by doing that. We're losing right now by allowing them to be here illegally too, so it has to be dealt with. Amnesty is the answer

A republican sharecroper from Arkansas - do we need to know anything more about why Mr. Republican is so full of hate and loathing for everyone else? "I worked hard and came from poverty, now I'm successfully, I'm really better than everyone else" .

PR call us what you want .... but who do you think picked your cotton and fruits and vegetables before all the illegals did? poor white people did, along with poor black people.

I know what I do away from a keyboard to help people, to help communities etc. I don't know what you do - and I'm not name calling you before I know ... so why do you feel the need to do it to me? it removes validity from anything you say when every response you type is hateful, mean, intolerant and unaccepting.

Schmidt first thanks for the reply

I have a much harder time understanding people like you

I'm not a complicated person. I would say what I expect of myself I expect of others. Show me a mid 20's poor person and tell me why they are where they are. Oh, we can say its because their parents had nothing, they were from a broken home, a bad part of town, maybe they're from a 1 stoplight town in the south or an inner city in the north.

I say so what, that's situations, that's NOT why they are where they are. I would ask why they didn't get a 4.0 in high school and score high to get college scholarships. I would ask why they didn't get a job or even 2 if that's what they had to do. I would ask how many times they moved to a better place, a better position to get themselves better.

Choice - we are where we are with few exceptions, because of choice. Isn't that ultimately the absolute truth ?

So I shouldn't be hard to understand at all. With rare exception I've always worked, I've always paid taxes and played things legally and by the book. I've contributed to society by giving my time and money, far less than some, more than others. I've been married 21 years, I have a daughter and son. I've done things the right way more often than not.

Why should I expect less from my fellow American's? I don't want them to be me - I want them to try hard, to work hard, to be better for themselves and family. That's it - simple.

Dutch - you speak truth, in that everyone live on an island in their own ways sure, I get that. I've traveled all over the US, and to Venezuela which is far less than you, but far more than people I graduated with who literally haven't been to 3 states their entire lives. But that said - their opinions have value, and their perspective matter.

So I hope you get an better picture where I'm coming from; as an orphan I had to battle my whole life to get ahead, and can't complain. Except about the ignorance in this country.

So I don't get that part. You understand then then the importance of hard work, determination, success through failures .... you understand everybody doesn't get a participation trophy, not everyone wins a blue ribbon in real life.

Why don't you place that personal responsibility on everyone? Are you so special that you can rise above and all those other people can't? I don't believe I am .... what I did anyone can do with hard work.

That's my problem with much of the world today. People work less, have less ambition, less drive, but they expect everyone to give them free stuff and have this sense of entitlement. Man I never had that - my Dad would have slapped me had I ever shown an ounce of uppity or that the world owed me something.

People stay invisible to avoid deportation. Besides legal jobs that illegals would fill would issue W-2s and deduct taxes. The illegal problem is created by conservative principles that treat people as expendable and deregulate finances

Chet I don't fully understand your reply. Illegals don't have legal jobs - that's illegal. If they HAVE jobs, its under the table, thus escaping State and Federal taxes. By and large this is true. Democrats shelter illegals, keep them illegal, and then you blame the conservatives because of it?

What would be "wrong" right now, if the United States had zero illegals in it. Everyone's a citizen, proud to be here, working legally, paying taxes, doing their civic duties as citizens. Why do Democrats want 10-15 million illegals and why do they want to KEEP them illegal ?

Economic slavery is the only answer I can come up with. Cheap labor, worked outside Labor Laws, exploited to keep a cheap workforce in those areas. I can think of no other reason and its sick and needs to stop.

Dutch why the hell are you here in the US then if this is such a crap place to live?

You know what the best system in the world is? Nobody works, everyone gets $500,000 a year, we all get to live in million dollar mansions and have ferraris ....... wouldn't that be great? We all deserve that don't we ?

You listed countries that have have national health plans true - what's the cost? NOTHING is free .... so who's paying for it and how and then also what things do those countries NOT have that the US does?

The US has national health care - its called the VA and it sucks, ask a vet. Its also called medicare/medicaid and its a billion dollar sucking machine that the Govt has botched as they botch everything. Double examples of failures for you
