I am an active Unitarian Universalist. I grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, as suburb of Detroit and home to the Ford Motor Company. I have lived and worked in Detroit for the past 35 years (as of 1/1/2015). I was in the Peace Corps in the Philippines, and have been married to a Filipino woman for 34 years. I speak fluent Tagalog. Professionally, my work is with computers -- programming and system administration. I am also trained in economics and worked in that field for 4 years before switching to computers. My hobbies include economics, geography, linguistics, music, and philosophy.
I am a liberal and proponent of the Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) of economics. MMT basically describes our fiat monetary system as it actually works, as opposed to the myth that is the conventional wisdom based upon the abandoned gold standard. Most MMT advocates also support establishing a federal government employer of last resort program.
I am of course concerned about the environment, the desirability of resolving disputes peaceful, and other liberal causes.
