Almost 50 years to the day of her father's assassination (JFK), Caroline Kennedy is making her entrance into a political office, like most of her family seems to do. She will be the new ambassador to Japan. It's amazing to me how poised most (but certainly not all) the Kennedy's dispositions are for political life. Just like many in her family, she seems born to be in politics. Very objective, PC, a calm presence. Just interesting to me. Looks like Tokyo is welcoming her and her family's name, so far. How do you think she'll fare in her first roll in politics?

Someday, just maybe, it's far stretch of the imagination....................Caroline Kennedy and Amy Clinton to the White House.

It's all about grooming and education. What a great country this is.

I think it would be fantastic & wonderful for Caroline to follow in her family's footsteps and enter politics. She has stayed out of the limelight for a long time, and now may be the right time to take her place in history. But I WISH it would be anyplace but Japan. After all the problems with the Fukushima nuclear plant there, & the situation just gets worse every day, I think it is much too dangerous for her to go there to live, and I wish she would reconsider the location. ANYPLACE but Japan. While I do love Japan as a place to travel, & I love their culture & Art and everything about the country as a whole, I think the toxicity of nuclear pollution in the air & water makes it much too contaminated to live there. JFK only has one child left alive, & she is much too precious to be put into so much danger. Surely they can find somebody else.

Somebody made a comment that they sent an aircraft carrier when John Jr's plane went down, & I did not know about that, IF it is true. But whatever they did, in his case, was suitable. Here is a family that lost at least 2 members in the Armed Services in WW-2, & JFK was himself very severely wounded in that war in PT-109, & then JFK was President & his brother Robt was Attorney General, & BOTH of them were brutally murdered while running for POTUS in an election year. (1963 & 1968) both of them political assassinations. And the TRUE killers have not yet seen justice. And then the President's only son is "accidentally" killed when his plane "explodes" in mid-air, (which is NOT pilot error, but a result of some kind of sabotage) -- WE OWE HIM SOME RESPECT, for all his family's sacrifice for this country. I admire the whole family's courage & loyalty to the USA, & how the other members like Patrick & Bobby, JR have done so much for all of us. Anyone who does not realize their contributions, should carefully watch all the TV coverage this month, & read some biographies (like one by Chris Matthews on JFK) & learn how some great people are raised with patriotism and TRUE Christian values, & are motivated to govt service for all the RIGHT REASONS. The Best of the Best. -- God Bless Them All.

As always a well thought out and informative post. The problem is JFK junior was a private citizen. Not entitled to aircraft carrier search. The Kennedy's adopted their wealth from a rum-running father. My uncle and father were shot in Vietnam (both survived)..... The canoe would have also been dis-patched in their disappearances.
