So Beyonce and Jay-Z decide to take a trip to Havanna, Cuba for their 5th wedding anniversary. Problem is, we have a long-standing trade embargo with Cuba. The U.S. doesn't want to help the Cuban government in any way, and that includes tourism money. Republican lawmakers are jumping all over the two celebrities for contributing to the economy of our enemy.
Where do you stand on all this? Personally, I don't see much of a problem here. I rather like the couple's disregard for national feuds, and instead seeing themselves as people of the world, not just Americans. But, I am a bit torn. I do see the GOP side of this too... I don't think that the Beyonce and Jay-Z anniversary getaway will ultimately do anything, good or bad. Mostly media hyping celebrity in the news. But it does highlight Cuba for a bit. And, at least reminded me that the U.S. isn't very friendly when it comes to a lot of nations, not just the ones we are currently or have recently been at war with. Food for thought.
