MSNBC formally confirmed what has long been rumored and announced that Alec Baldwin will be hosting a late night show starting this October. The show will be called "Up Late With Alec Baldwin" and will be aired on Friday evenings at 10 pm. Mr. Baldwin is perhaps best known for his role on the mega hit "30 Rock," but has also been an outspoken liberal for quite some time and should find a healthy and welcoming audience at MSNBC.

What does everyone think of today's announcement? Will Mr. Baldwin be a good fit over at MSNBC or are they taking a risk by handing the keys to someone that has never hosted a political show before?

I think Mr. Baldwin will be fine. Let us give him a chance. Anything will be better than another installment of Lock Up!

Alec doesn't tolerate opposing viewpoints very well, and he can be combative at times, so I feel that as talk show host he might have to overcome these tendencies to become a bully, but I do enjoy 30 rock and his commercials are humorous, I saw a couple of his movies and he is a better than average actor, so I will wish him well in his new endeavor and much success.

I will go ahead and make it unanimous (so far). My opinion is that Alec Baldwin is drop dead gorgeous (for a man) & he will be a great addition. We can always use an extra hand around the MSNBC corral, to let the "regulars" get in a little nap time. And looking at Alec will be a real treat, that will draw an even bigger audience. I hope he will be a bit combative, since weak opinions on TV do not appear sincere. (And ANYTHING but "LockUp": )

Kudos to MSNBC for adding Alex Baldwin to its stellar roster. This gifted, many faceted performer will be a real asset to their programming. I can't wait until 10 pm and I'm already on Channel 23 (of course). Ann .
