I think MSNBC has come to their senses and taken that vitriolic idiot off the air...did you hear what he had the nerve to say about Palin? She isn't my favorite person but he needs to get some "anchor sensitivity training" or go back to wherever the hell he came from. An awful embarrassment to MSNBC. It's media nuts like him that foster hatred. I wonder if he is part of the "knockout gang"????

He is one of the best commentators out there! He is also suffering from Brain cancer, I believe. I thought I watched him yesterday but maybe it was Wednesday .

People can can only take so much of scum like Palin i can hardly blame him for his comments about her. He is 100% accurate in his description of her!

PS - you ain't no savvylady. More like a dumb troll;(

I seldom listen to Mr. Bashir but his comments about Former Gov. Palin and that she deserved to have someone defecate in her mouth was a bit much, don't you think?

MSNBC has already suspended rageaholic, homophobic Alec Baldwin and now has Bashir has been suspended as well?

Two or three more suspensions and they will be running out of talking heads.

I know that Bashir has "apologized" for his comments but we all know he was probably just reading a statement that some lawyer wrote for him. Has anybody in MSNBC management apologized? If not, they should do so and soon.

Bashir was reportedly the lowest rated, or among the lowest rated shows on MSNBC, so maybe this will be their chance to get rid of him. Ed was exiled to weekends a few months ago then brought back, so maybe the network will go that route with Bashir, too.

This is the difference between the conservative and liberal media. Conservatives love the vitriol and hate spewing towards the left. It doesn't matter what anyone says and nothing is out of bounds. Liberals, on the other hand, actually have a sense of decency and recoil when someone on their side stoops to the low's that the right so often does. I feel that his words regarding Ms. Palin were unacceptable and he deserves to be punished. On the other hand, I truly wonder how anyone on the right can get so worked up about this because their favorite network puts out some of the most hate filled and sexist propaganda on a 24/7 basis.

jared we agree that ..."he deserves to be punished"... and so does anyone on ANY network who says something as ..."unacceptable"... as Bashir said.

Next time a Fox News (or any other network) talking head says something as bad, all of us should demand their suspension, resignation, or worse.

I can't remember the last time any network anchor (even on Fox News) said something this bad. But with all the ..."hate filled and sexist propoganda on a 24/7 basis"... on the airwaves I suppose it's out there. When it occurs I will be among the first ones calling for actions against them.

I would put my money on Ann Coulter, except she doesn't anchor a show. Coulter, like Bill Maher, says stuff to be intentionally provocative on a regular basis.

Maybe Bashir is trying to get to their level. If so, he's finding it tough to do when you have your own show on cable news.

I meant to tune in to see if Bashir was on today, does anyone know?

It's being reported that Martin Bashir resigned today over the comments made on his show towards Sarah Palin.

    Yes Martin Bashir resigned today:

    Huffington Post

    His e-mail statement:

"Upon further reflection, and after meeting with the president of MSNBC, I have tendered my resignation," the email read in part. "It is my sincere hope that all of my colleagues, at this special network, will be allowed to focus on the issues that matter without the distraction of myself or my ill-judged comments."

"I deeply regret what was said, will endeavor to work hard at making constructive contributions in the future and will always have a deep appreciation for our viewers – who are the smartest, most compassionate and discerning of all television audiences. I would also wish to express deepest gratitude to my immediate colleagues, and our contributors, all of whom have given so much of themselves to our broadcast."

Shit in - shit out! Bring Martin back, he only spoke the truth (and what every reasonable person was thinking)!

    You're half right..."shit out"...

He didn't say anything any more hateful than lots of others do but he said it an unacceptable way. The bad part is he "reportedly" read it off the teleprompter. What? No language check in pre-production? Someone HAD to have looked at it and OK'd it.

Still waiting for the apology from MSNBC management. Or, if they issued it, I missed it.

I really regret that he resigned. It shows he has an inner sense of responsibility and shame, and it was probably eating away at him that he spoke those words without thinking. I have to admit that listening or watching Sarah Palin brings out the worst in me. My harsh words about her, however, are for only my wife to hear. I will not repeat them here, but like Bashir I do absolutely detest everything about her. She represents the worst of America.

I wish Martin Bashir all the best in whatever he decides to do next. He is a true gentleman that at times, like all of us, gets overly frustrated by the insanity of the right wing noise machine. I'm with you Martin. Hang in there.
