Looking at people serving in Congress, you see a gross over representation of business men and and lawyers. We hardly ever see scientists, doctors, philosophers, and teachers. John Glenn was one of the exceptions. The first American to orbit the Earth served in the Senate, and ran for the Democratic nominations for both the VP and the presidency.

Should we be promoting and wider diversity of career backgrounds in Congress and hopeful lure more people like Glenn to Washington to balance out the lawyers and businessmen?
