I had to take my wife to the eye doctor yesterday. It is always a couple of hours wait so I got to watch the Zimmmerman trial on TV.

Here is my take on this.......

If I was walking home from a convenience store at night and someone was following me, I would find that threatening.

If I picked up the pace of walking and tried to lose the man following me, but he persisted in following....I would feel more threatened.

If he finally caught up with me, I would go into fight mode because of the threat to my security. I would think my assailant was about to do bodily harm.

This is what happened with Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman.

For George Zimmerman to now plead self defense is ridiculous. He initiated the situation. He acted in a manner threatening to Trayvon Martin.

When George killed Trayvon he committed a crime.

Dear Rev. Sharpton: I have a question regarding the initial contact law enforcement had with the body of Trayvon, and the initial story by the police who gave him mouth to mouth. In the photographs the television audiance seen the young man face down, did the officer that gave CPR turn him over to apply CPR and then turn him back over for the initial photos, or were these not the actual initial photos?

Also, I don't understand the nose bleed of Zimmerman, and the lack of blood on the deceased, or his clothing. If one could explain how a nose bleed is able to stop at the lip, and drip no further, neither on the hands and wrists of Zimmerman, or any other articles of clothing worn by Zimmerman. In my experience with nose bleeds, they don't work that way. A nose bleed runs down the front of your clothing after reaching the lips.

Finally, how can one chase down an unarmed teen, "after being told by law enforcement not to". Shoot the unarmed teen to death, and call it self defense.

nick I think you are pretty much right with everything you say.

BUT: Zimmerman is winning. To convict Z of murder there has to be conclusive proof and right now I don't know how Z can be convicted. It ain't over till it's over but right now it looks bad for the prosecution. What you and I think happened and what is provable in court are two different things.

I am convinced that the encounter was Z's fault, but after that...? The witness that saw Travon on top combined with Z's injuries is more than enough to raise "reasonable doubt".

I was convinced that OJ Simpson murdered his wife and her boyfriend, but OJ was not convicted. He had the better lawyers on his side.

Our justice system does not always get it right. It's not enough to know what happened, it's what you can prove in court.

Lca do you think that the police used fake blood to make up Z's nosebleed? There are large nosebleeds and small nosebleeds and medium nosebleeds and sometimes people wipe off the blood and his nose definitely looks busted. Then what about the back of Z's head? Is it all just made up? Are the cops in on this conspiracy, too?

I'm not defending Zimmerman, but from what I have seen so far Zimmerman is winning and it is not even close.

Maybe Zimmerman, if he goes free, will be just as stupid as OJ Simpson and break the law again and go to jail anyway like OJ.

If I lived in Sanford Florida, I'd prepare for trouble.

If this is indeed the scenario, which so far, it seems to be.

In today's news,....see link above.....there is an explanation by George Zimmerman's teacher of the "stand your ground law.

Here is a quote from the above link....
"He explained that a person can make a self-defense argument if the person has a "reasonable apprehension" of death or great bodily harm."

"It's imminent fear. The fact alone that there isn't an injury doesn't necessarily mean that the person didn't have a reasonable apprehension or fear,"

People seem concerned over who was on top when Trayvon and Zimmerman were fighting. But they fail to understand that Trayvon was in """reasonable apprehension" of death or great bodily harm.""" because he was being followed by an unknown assailant at night. An assaailant that he could not lose and who continued to follow in spite of his efforts to flee and lose his follower.

Just to play the devil's advocate here; George's statement that he was sucker punched on the way back to his car does poke a hole in the fear of imminent death theory from Trayvon's prosecutors, also I don't why the DA chose to put on a Medical Examiner who based her theory on the injuries suffered by George from photo's rather than from those who had treated him is beyond me,. The States case is beginning to unravel and I fear a compromise verdict that would serve no one especially justice may be rendered, already I noticed on CNN earlier to/day that certain reporters are already asking city officials if they are prepared for any civil unrest if the verdict comes down in favor of George Zimmerman, ala the King verdict in California.

johnny you are right that the city is going to burn if Zimmerman is aquitted. Some of it anyway. Maybe lots of it.

How many people have heard of Sanford Florida before this case? No one. Certainly almost no one. Now everyone knows.

How many of us would have heard of Sanford Florida if George Zimmerman were black? No one. Certainly almost no one. And that is the sad truth.

The Washington Post today said that race had nothing or very little to do with this case. They could not be more wrong. This is all about race (see the previous two paragraphs) and Rev Al will be fanning the flames if Z gets off. Rev Al is ALREADY fanning the flames. If Z gets off, Rev Al will be doing it from Sanford Florida instead of the studio.

Nickpecoraro said ..."An assailant that he (Trayvon) could not lose and who continued to follow in spite of his efforts to flee and lose his follower."... Well, I do not know that Trayvon tried ..."to flee"... but yes Z was following him and therefore is mostly, maybe entirely at fault for causing their encounter. But, Trayvon tried to flee? I am not sure of that. And what exactly happened during their encounter? No one but Zimmerman will ever know.

The best hope for the state/prosecution is for the jurors to decide that they want to convict Z to save their city. But I don't think it's enough. Z is still winning big time, and I doubt that six people can convict, but it is not over yet, as much as some seem to think so.

It's a shame that race has once again divided America.

So true! What is worse is that George decided to end the fight, he started and was losing, by using a gun.
Then he has the audacity to say Trayvon talked to him after he was dead. Coroner's report mentioned
Trayvon died instantly from the gun shot wound. George says Trayvon told him "You got me."
George was such a coward that after he shot Trayvon
he asked the first neighbor on the scene to help him restrain Trayvon. Truth is Trayvon was already restrained and dead.

medical examiner stated that Z's injuries were minor

Trayvon was on top defending himself

I believe Z grabbed Trayvon to restrain him until the police arrived
from there on T had to defend himself
and it seems like he was winning the fight until the coward Z used
a gun to end the fight he started

lover, you say..."Trayvon was on top defending himself"... usually the person on top is winning the fight. That's just true, it's a fact. And it WILL matter in this trial, and it will help the defense.

I think Z is guilty of something, probably a lot, but not sure of his guilt of murder, but I think Z is going to get off in this trial.

I only wish that President Obama, who is uniquely positioned to lead at this crucial time, would come out and lead, by saying that he wants no violence, no riots, from EITHER side, no matter the verdict. Maybe he will.

I hope that President Obama will do the right thing. Lives may be at stake.

I completely agree. Z. shot Martin because Z. couldn't fight as well as a scared kid. Because Z. was getting his Arse kicked he "Stood his ground"
I guess with, this logic a really bad fighter with a permit to carry could take out hundreds of people before authorities started to question the situations. I also agree that it has much to do with race. Notice Z's previous calls to 911. Seems he never calls about white people. After all, how could they seem suspicious...........or threatening.
I agree the prosecution has had some sketchy witnesses who didn't speak clearly, had a bad attitude, etc. Sad.
Bottom line and what we should all learn going forward. Get a permit to carry and anytime you're getting your butt kicked..... you can legally kill.
Then - as long as you are whiter than the victim, you should be just fine.
