Recently released New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez has been charged with first-degree murder and five separate firearms charges in relation to the June 17th shooting death of Odin L. Lloyd, an acquaintance of the former athlete. Prosecutors have claimed that they have an abundance of evidence linking Hernandez to the crime. They have video evidence of Lloyd and Hernandez getting out of a car in the exact location of Lloyd's death, as well as video of Hernandez walking into his residence at 3:30 am with a gun in his hand. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.
I don't know what to think about this case. On the face of things, this seems like an open and shut murder case considering the evidence that prosecutors allege that they have. It will be difficult to explain the video evidence showing Hernandez with Lloyd at the exact spot of the latter's death, but the great thing about our criminal justice system is that he has the ability to explain his side to a jury and let them decide if he's telling the truth.
Whatever the case, this is yet another sad end to a professional athlete's career. I'm sure Hernandez is second guessing some of the decisions he has made in the past few weeks and wishing that he might have done things differently. Thoughts on Hernandez's charges and if prosecutors have a strong case against him?

jared this is just another example of a young person who became rich and famous at an early age and couldn't handle it.
How many athletes, entertainers, celebrities have either killed themselves or ruined their lives for no good reason? Far too many, and it includes Michael Jackson, Elvis, Whitney Houston, Len Bias, and far too many others to mention here. It seems as though Hernandez will be added to the list.
It looks overwhelmingly bad for Hernandez right now but he is entitled to his day in court before we declare him guilty.

As if one murder charge isn't enough, Aaron Hernandez has been indicted with another murder charge in the 2012 killing of two Boston men. His new charges include two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of armed assault with intent to murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
