Another tornado struck Oklahoma on 5/31 and death toll is at 9 including 2 children. I look forward to seeing how the Reps of Oklahoma handle themselves in Washington.

Mom(Mother Nature) wants us to ask the question "Can that old broad dressed in fog tear apart a mile wide section of an above ground pipe line?"

But let's make this thread a practice section for spinning nature into an anti-Obama spinathon.

Obama caused this because God wants to show the un-Americans amongst us how to fend for oneself. Now send some aid please.

I don't know about an anti-Obama spinathon, but if Congress does give what Sec.of State John Kerry requested for Palenstine and that is $ 6billion in Aid, and if the Administration can't divert some of that money to our own infrastructure,or schools, the torando ravanged States which suffered huge montary losses or even paying down the National Debt, then he will no doubt be criticized even more and that won't be called spinning.

Yes, we are spreading our tax money all around but cut back on the wrong things like firefighters; air traffic control; teachers etc.
Long live the Pentagon they are the only one's who get lot a of useless toys; but that keeps us safe! ( from tornado's?, floods?, hurricanes?, tsunami's?, fires?. drought?, aircraft and train accidents, bridges and safety? you name it?)

I have never lived in the region known as Tornado Alley but are the building codes in that region so lax that its alright to build on concrete slabs knowing the dangers of these types of storms or does the enviorment prohit the building of basements as a means of refuge, or is the cost too prohibitive to build basements?

The water table is most of tornado alley is at a very shallow depth which makes basements very cost prohibitive. It makes much more sense to build a small storm shelter in the backyard. That way you can still be underground without having the weight of an entire house putting additional stress on a hollowed out room inside the water table.
