For over eleven years, Harriet Tubman went into the slave state of Maryland helped usher hundreds of slaves out of bondage and into free territory in the Northern states. Harriet Tubman, a slave run away herself, never lost one person that she helped free throughout her many years of Underground Railroad work. She once told an audience "I was conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years, and I can say what most conductors can't say – I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger." Thoughts on Harriet Tubman and her heroic actions throughout her life?
