The Dalai Lama has been touring the United States this week and holding events that promote taking better care of our earth and finding common ground around the many religions throughout the world. While visiting the University of Portland, The Dalai Lama held an interfaith round table discussion with a who's who of religious leaders in the Pacific Northwest. Their conversation focused on finding common ground and promoting "religious harmony" among the different religions.

The one thing that was missing from the discussion was a notable agnostic or atheist to give their point of view. I am a firm believer in "to each is own" when it comes to religion and I do see that it can do good in the world, but it's important to have that point of view in any discussion regarding the various religions. There are millions of atheist's and agnostic's in this world that are upstanding and moral citizens and I think we need to start hearing more from them in these types of discussions.

Thoughts on the Dalai Lama's visit to America and his promotion of religious harmony?
