Israel has hit targets in Syria. According to MSNBC it's reported that Israel entered Lebanon air space and hit targets in Syria.
They are suggesting that Syria was going to transfer missiles to Hezbollah in Lebanon. It's not known if they were chemical weapons
or scud missiles. It was breaking news on MSNBC but it wasn't on network TV.

The message is "the US is already involved" because I guess Israel must have informed the US and we approved it I guess.
So it will from here on only escalate and maybe drag Lebanon into the mess as well; we'll wait and see, but it becomes more delicate for sure.

If you are in the middle of a civil war you do not export weapons. PERIOD!

Dutch I have not heard that ..."Israel has informed the US"... nor have I heard that ..."we approved it"... If you have a source for that, then by all means please share it with the rest of us.

I'm not saying that you are wrong, I am saying that if you do not have a credible source then maybe you are just speculating. I have heard others speculate that the United States DID NOT know about these airstrikes until after the fact.

So I don't know, and maybe no one on this site does. What I did hear is that Israel thought that Syria was sending the rockets to Hezbollah, and if that is true then I am not surprised that Israel hit them. Wasn't the first time and will not be the last time.

Hezbollah gets rockets for one purpose and one purpose only...to launch at Israel.

There have many instances of Israel launching a pre-emptive strike to protect itself from their enemies without telling the U.S of their actions nor does Israel need the approval of the U.S. government for anything involving their defense of their country, the U.S. is an ally not a father figure. I just wish we would stop being the police force of the world.

We're also kind of a sugar daddy. Need weapons ? Can you urge your US citizens to vote for these politicians..... Sure we can help you out. Cost ? Don't you worry about that. We have limitless money when it comes to buying weapons.

johnny and tony everything you say is true. We shouldn't be the world's policeman...but we are that's not going to change anytime soon. Yes Israel has the right to protect itself even though we sometimes try to restrain them.

Israel owns enough of our elected officials that we will always support them. We do have some influence with their government but they sometimes go their own way. This may be one of those times.

Israel does it again. Second airstrike in Syria in three days. Escalation or coincidence?

Is Hezbollah taking advantage of the chaos in Syria to try to get more Syrian weapons?

Is Israel using the same chaos in Syria as an excuse to hit military targets?

Is the "Arab Spring" really working?

"jamesn" I told you so; things will only escalate from here, unless someone (who?) will decide "hands off"; stay out of a civil war. If Israel gets drawn into it then likely we will not be far behind, unless we keep our cool.

Dutch I'm hoping that President Obama is smart enough to keep us out of it, at least directly. Indirectly we are already in it.

You say that ..."things will only escalate from here"... and I say that's not a hard prediction to make. It ALWAYS escalates sooner or later. Israel and _____ (somebody) are always engaging in small or large shooting wars then all sides stop to restock and re-load then it's just a matter of time until they start shooting again.

Both sides usually claim victory and actually Israel usually inflicts more damage to military targets than the other side but it really doesn't matter in the long run. The real winners are the leaders who have to keep the hatred ratcheted up so they can maintain their power. They do not really want peace, that would only diminish their power.

..."it will only escalate from here"... of course it will, it always does. The only question is when, this week, this month, this year...?

Dutch I fully agree with much of what you say on a day to day basis but there is not any person on this DemocraticHub that I agree with every time.

Lets just hope that all sides will show restraint in this latest flare up in the Middle East. I'm not counting on it but I'm hopeful!

Yes; I just want to make a note on that you are a great guy and a pleasure to correspond with; anyway it is good to have once in a while a few clashes; I like it that way.
