jperry I disagree with your statement ..."I don't think I would call them Terrorists."...

If these guys set the pressure cooker bombs at the marathon, and it seems likely that they did, then how do you NOT call them terrorists? Setting off bombs at a public place to kill and maim men, women, and children is the very definition of terrorism. The fact that they let one person live does not excuse their earlier acts of killing others. Maybe they let him live because they thought that would give them the best chance to escape.

I know they have not had their day in court but WHOEVER set those bombs are definitely terrorists, and it seems likely that it was these two brothers.

I would still hold off on calling them terrorists until I know more. The Government wants them to be termed terrorists to remove all rights under the law from them. I'd like to have more info.

"The word "terrorism" is politically and emotionally charged,[5] and this greatly compounds the difficulty of providing a precise definition. Studies have found over 100 definitions of “terrorism”.[6][7]

The concept of terrorism may be controversial as it is often used by state authorities (and individuals with access to state support) to delegitimize political or other opponents,[8] and potentially legitimize the state's own use of armed force against opponents (such use of force may be described as "terror" by opponents of the state).[8][9]"

I broke the paragraph to highlight the first part. We need to define a word better than we do. i.e. To Syria the rebels are Terrorists. 1775 the group of colonists that attact the British were Terrorists, in the British view.

If we find the reason and it justifies the name Terrist then I'll agree.

I assume that anyone who happens to be in the USA is protected by the constitution whether or not they are citizens tourists or even illegal aliens is that what most people & the law believe?

jperry if you would not call them terrorists, then what would you call them? I, and just about all of America, thinks they are terrorists but I certainly respect your right to think otherwise.

Not calling these brothers terrorists would be like calling illegal aliens "undocumented immigrants". Or calling drug dealers "unlicensed pharmacists".

I think your viewpoint would be especially unpopular in Boston. The families of the victims would not be very tolerent of your views, and understandably so.

Yeah, I wonder what would you call the daily killing on our streets? I guess "undocumented gun owners"? Or may be "free lance exterminators"
Then we use "drones" : "undocumented firecrackers" Sure time we figure out some new names; "terrorrist" becomes a bit too regular a word.

Terrorist is OK. But the question is domestic or international. The right is focusing on the elder boys religion but failing to see all the pieces of the puzzle. He used religion as crutch to help with his personal failure. A domestic violence charge KOed any chance of citizenship. And down the rabbithole he went. How he managed to suck his little brother down that hole is what is really interesting.

EXACTLY RIGHT! I have been wondering the same thing for days...of course they are terrorists, but domestic terrorists or foreign terrorists? Both arguments can be made. I think in this particular case, it is a little of both. They are from another country but lived here for about a decade, one even becoming a US citizen.

This argument could go on forever.
