Maggie Gallagher has been on a holy crusade since 2003 when she decided that the American family was in disarray and would only get worse if gay marriage became the law of the land. This "accidental activist" claims she only became involved in the debate because she saw the decline in marriage for many years and that the gay marriage debate was the straw that broke the camels back.

Ms. Gallagher co-founded the National Organization for Marriage, an anti-gay marriage advocacy group that was formed specifically to help pass California's Proposition 8, which unfortunately passed and banned same-sex marriage in the state. Since then, Ms. Gallagher and her group have spent countless dollars fighting against any gay marriage or civil union measure in states that were debating them. Her group also invested heavily in helping oust three Iowa Supreme Court Justices after their vote to allow gay marriage in Iowa. Unsurprisingly, Ms. Gallagher was at the Supreme Court today to hear the oral arguments determining the constitutionality of Proposition 8.

Call me naive, but I just can't believe that individuals like this are still given as much attention as she is. I have yet to hear a valid argument explaining how gay marriage will affect ANYONE other than the two individuals getting married. Marriage is a sacred institution to churches, but churches can keep it sacred within the confines of their walls.

Thoughts on Ms. Gallagher's ability to drive the debate with gay marriage and if she will continue to be a powerful force or if modern times will eventually pass her by?

These nutters are giving mainstream Christians a blackeye. Add this assault to the Creation Museum and the Texas School Board and the Dover case and mainstream Christian churches can't be wondering if it is having a positive effect on recruitment.

An out of touch fruitcake, in my humble opinion! The world is/has passed her and her message of hate behind. Gay marriage will become the law of the land in the USA by 2012 in my opinion!

We are set free from the law,we are not responsible for what other decide to do with their lives, we are not the judge of any one not even our selves.
everybody will have to stand before the real judge in the judgement. I feel that same sex marrage people believe that they have the right to get marrage, and I have no porblem with that, but at least alow me the same rights to not believe in same sex marrage. When it comes to the laws of the land, well that another story, we are surpose to render to the laws of the land that which is of the land, and unto God that which is of God. I believe that no one should make any one believe any thing they choose not to believe, or make me believe any thing I do not want to believe. and I do not believe that a man and man or awoman and a woman can be fruirful and multiply and replimish the earth or they would not be here.
If every woman or man choose to marrage or live with each other,we wouldn't have to worrie about little hungry kids any more or kids that have parents that do not want their kids, I believe there is some one that knows how to fix what ever is broken in this world and when he speaks we think is a shame but God is the owner and control of these people and gave us the right to decided what we want to do in our lives, and its my job to say that its wrong. and its up to them to hear or not to hear. I will have done my part, or job. and can not be responsible for any one eales decidion.

You are entitled to your opinions, but I must respectfully disagree with everything that you said. I don't believe in heaven or hell and that is my right. You are entitled to your opinions and I wish you the best.

Jared said it right; do us a favor and indeed get real. The only reason churches are against it, is because as with birthcontrol they want to expand their base via a lot of "babies" so they all can join their society, which means more power and income. It is something like a membership drive.
Gay's do not get kids (can adopt them only) so of no interest to the church. The catholic church started this process very early on and brought them richness and a huge base; smart thinking of these old buzzerts at that time. Sorry that is the only reason for their "rules"; nothing else!!!

I have to say you are wrong Dutch. I can believe that the churches, including the EARLY Catholic church, seemed to go after power and more members in the manner you have described, BUT just because it happened that way in the past, things can and do change. Just look at the U.S.'s relationship with Great Britain. It was because of religious persecution and taking away of rights and freedoms that our founders came here from Great Britain in the first place. Do you think the U.S. still considers Great Britain in that same way? Of course not, because they have changed. And the same is true with not only the Catholic Church, but other churches as well. And that doesn't mean that things are necessarily done changing either.

I will now speak some about the churches' rules. Theoretically, most churches have the Bible as their foundation. The Bible does document past history, like when Moses went up to the mountain to pray. I cannot envision him taking a tool chest or a laser with him, so I believe the words that God met him and gave him the 10 Commandments that He Himself had inscribed on the two pieces of stone tablet, and Moses brought them down from the mountain upon his return. Exodus 24 v.12. Thus you're earlier statements about showing you where Jesus (God) could write anything, these two tablets prove it quite well.

So I believe in trying my best to adhere to what His Commandments say, and yes it is my faith that this human existence is not all there is.

Kind of a very strange way of answering this. First you say I was wrong then you admit what I said is right, then drag in Moses, of whom I do not know if he was gay and wanted to marry. Then something about stone tablets (what has that anything to do with gay marriage?); please show me these and if these were made in China or on Mars. By the way these commandmends can be reduced to two as proven on TV, so what? Exodus 24? etc. I guess a "human" wrote that, not a "HIS" (who says, if it exists, it is a HIS?); "ghosts" do not write (can not hold a chisel or a pen), neither carve tablets nor think (if they have brains?) as a human unless it is a human. Did you see "it" lately or talked to "it"; pls sent me the video.!!
What did you drink? You are talking about the EARLY catholic church, sorry the "present one" stil has the same rules, except they are no longer allowed to burn witches or murder Templars or Joan of Arc etc., so what do you mean?
Yipes. ( But anyway you are allowed to believe whatever you want to believe; I have no problem with that whatsoever; you are still a great guy!)

I said you were right about the EARLY Catholic Church, that is all. And what difference does it make about Moses' sexual orientation? The stone tablet is now in Ethiopia in the city of Zion. It came from Jerusalem at the time of Emperor Minikil the first child of king Solomon. The Queen of Sheba conceived the child when she traveled to Jerusalem to witness Solomon's wisdom. Just type "ethiopia secret holy land" on you tube to see the documentary that was made about it.

The Bible documents Jesus' giving the stone tablet to Moses, see my earlier post for the Chapter. And as proof, go to Zion and see for yourself. You probably can't touch it though.

The Catholic Church may or may not have the exact same rules from their inception, but it was in the initial years of their existence that all the graft occurred, so it made no difference to the higher-ups and even some practitioners then what the rules were. After how many years of that I am not sure, but the Catholic Church did change and change for the better. NO human church can be perfect, just like no human can be perfect. I feel the same is true for almost every church.

My, oh my they are getting nuttier and nuttier! Why do intelligent people continue to believe absolute nonsense like this? It's one thing to be brainwashed by religion as a child but sometime we should all grow up and face reality!!!

Those who pashed to have gay marriage banned at state level shot themselves in the foot. For they brought the issue to the front and lo and behold the people are moving away from hate for any reason to love thy neighbor. Fundamentalism is losing to mainstream Christians.

I guess you do not get the gesture of it; question again; What has Moses or stone tablets have anything to do with gay marriage? You can drag in whole antique bibles etc. we live now in this time. Get real.
