Can you believe the gaul this poor excuse for a human being has to actually give the following title to his supposed latest budget submittal? It is called "The Path to Prosperity" but he surely doesn't say for whom this path will be prosperous. That is the most obvious ruse I have ever seen. The overall driving point he makes is that FIRST of all, he will repeal Obama care. Yep, even though he will somehow hang on to the $716 billion for his own deficit reduction, $716 billion that Obama Care generated. Talk about two-faced. Then he wants to change Medicare for future retirees so they would have to buy health insurance in the private market, of course with assistance on premiums payment from the government in the form of vouchers. Plus, starting in 2022, just 9 years from now, the age of eligibility for Medicare would increase by 2 months per year, until it reached the retirement age of 67 (2033). After 2022, the current Medicare program ends for all those who are not already enrolled, even though many have been paying into it through payroll deductions for years. This is when the aforementioned vouchers would come into play, intended to help people buy private insurance in the marketplace. So remember now, if you are not 66+ by 2022, you will not be receiving Medicare as Americans know it now. I would highly recommend that you start your own personal health savings account now. Obviously none of this will happen if his budget doesn't get passed, just remember what these Republicans want to do to the American people.

I addition to the above details, let me add a few more points about his plan, that I found in my reading. This Path to Prosperity includes:

** A repeal of the requirement that most legal U.S. residents obtain health insurance.

** A repeal of the establishment of Health Insurance Exchanges.

** A repeal of the recent expansion of Medicaid.

** A repeal of penalties on employers if any of their workers obtain health insurance through these exchanges.

** A repeal of tax credits for small businesses that offer health insurance.

** Repeal the Class Act, for long term care insurance, as well as funding for high-risk pools, reinsurance for early retirees, and prevention and public health activities.

** Repeal the Independent payment Advisory Board, whose job it is to reduce the rate of Medicare growth without affecting coverage.

** Cancel efforts aimed at closing the "coverage gap" in medicare part D-the prescription "doughnut hole".

Both John Boehner and Eric Cantor praised Ryan's proposal.

And, by the way, Ryan's plan also eliminates the ATM (alternative minimum tax), and changes the 35% corporate rate to 25%, and eliminates any taxes on foreign profits.

All I can say is read this and weep.

It is mind-numbing to even contemplate the damage these Republicans would inflict on our senior citizens. They obviously do not care one bit about our older folks, even though they MUST have had mothers & grandmothers & other older relatives. Maybe they were all millionaires with yachts and property in the Cayman Islands. But any TRUE American would value & honor our senior citizens who built this country & fought in our wars, and developed our school systems & health systems through their taxes & hard work. I HEARD THIS recently, that said that GOP did NOT know that our senior citizens actually PAY for their Social Security & their Medicare thru payroll taxes, thru their whole life. Can you IMAGINE how "stupid" the Republicans actually ARE? It is like resurrecting dead people from the 1800's & bringing them back to life with NO EDUCATION & no knowledge of our true history or how to use MATH, or any sense of Logic. The whole political GOP party talk like a roomful of idiots who never knew a thing about real life in the last century or so. I really wonder--- is it all an ACT? Can it really be for REAL? I can't understand how any sensible human being can possibly be so dumb, unless they were unconscious in a cryogenic chamber for the last 45 yrs or so. Well, I can only say that we better insist on certain standards for any person who wants public office. Or any job that involves Decision Making. They should all have to undergo at least: (1) drug testing, (2) IQ testing, & (3) sanity testing. And some minimal possibility of understanding Math & Logic. Did I nail most all of it? Can you think of more qualifications? Our govt is no place for "on the job training" -- for slackers & crooks to get ahead.

Also, the typical educational system preferred by the GOP is "home schooling" being taught by people who barely got through the 3rd grade, & who believe that the earth is flat, that nothing evolved, that global warming is just a myth (never believe that pesky new-fangled thermometer) & that the sun revolves around the earth. Like in medieval times. And WE should elect these morons to make critically important decisions for us, in the United States Congress? I would not elect ANY of them to be a dog catcher in a tiny town. NO WHERE. So once we know we are dealing with a moron of the lowest caliber, WHY can't we "impeach" them, or "recall them from office" or otherwise repeal their being in that position, since they are obviously NOT QUALIFIED to be in any respectable govt job. WHY are we still paying their SALARY? For the morons in the Tea Party who have not done their job one day in the last 4 or 5 years. (They get paid to "represent We the People", -- NOT to represent Grover Norquist & the richest creeps that ever inhabited planet Earth). So they have "violated their oath of office" which is to follow the Constitution, which says to represent ALL the US citizens. If they are too dumb to know their "oath of office" --- how can we expect them to FOLLOW IT? We have to get SERIOUS about allowing MORONS to lead us & make important decisions on our behalf. IF THEY DON'T KNOW THEIR JOB & ARE NOT QUALIFIED, they must be impeached or taken out of that position. The Founding Fathers would be rolling in their graves, trying to claw their way out, so they could go grab a musket to arrest those tea bag creeps, and bring back our democracy. WHY are WE too weak to take on that task? There MUST BE A LAW that gives our rights back.

What am I going to say?; yeah this is a strange country!! Let us start with "term limits"; then kick the lobbying system in the butt; then drastically cut defense funding; then review our education system; then start building high speed rail, bridges, pothole free roads and get energy independend.
But as you said if some of our elected candidates are uneducated or only pocket fillers and think they are the only ones on this world; then sorry the fault is ours; if we do not educate the rednecks etc. that there is more in life than guns and Mc Donalds, the situation stays the same. Amen

If anyone call’s Ryan's budget proposal worthwhile, they are in deep need of a mental assessment. A budget is supposed to provide a forecast of revenues and expenditures of how a (business or government) might perform IF specific conditions are carried out. His lame excuse for a budget does NOT provide a forecast, it only CUTS the hell out of existing government programs for the especially needy, re-assigns that money to the already very wealthy, and makes no provision for either the establishment of any method of serving the people he has just cut off/out, OR reducing our national debt. So not only Ryan, but Boehner and Cantor as well, need to be ousted from their mega-thousands of dollars a year salaries, and put in the shoes of those they just pulled the rug out from under, they need to go back to school and learn what the word “budget” means.

"michaels" you are right; they have no clue what the word "budget" means. As I said in my thread if you revamp the main cost items under any such budget so you will come out ahead, but I guess the "lobbyists" win all the time so you have to satisfy those, like the war industry.
