It was recently announced that Ed Schultz, the liberal icon on MSNBC will be ending his nightly show in order to host a weekend program under the same name. The two hour time slot on Saturday and Sunday evening is something new for MSNBC and cable news shows as a whole. The other news stations don't typically invest much in their weekend programming, so this does leave a door open for Mr. Schultz as he moves into his new time slot. He announced that he will continue to run his radio show, as well.

Shortly after Ed Schultz announced his move, MSNBC announced that Chris Hayes will be taking over his time slot. I'm a big fan of Mr. Hayes and can only assume that he will only build upon his already strong following that he has garnered during his tenure of his weekend show on MSNBC.

I have to admit that I like both of these guys and can only hope that both of their new adventures are successful. Thoughts on Ed moving to a longer, 2-Hour time slot on the weekend and Mr. Hayes taking over his spot behind the prime time desk?

I am disappointed that Ed Schultz has been removed from weeknight; therefore, I will view other show available at that time. I will continue to watch Ed Schultz on the weekend. He was one of the reason, I watched MSNBC.

I'm afraid MSNBC is trying its damnest to be Fox News Lite. I predict this will blow up in their face and Progressives will start tuning out and Conservatives will never tune it.

I agree pr. Liberals and progressives (or at least the ones I know) tend to shy away from the shock "journalism" and MSNBC trying to mimic Fox will only turn away their current base of viewers without generating new ones to take their place.

The liberals I know tend to shy away from the 24/7 "news" channels and instead search for their news in other forums that actually inform their viewers instead of trying to brainwash them.
