What's Happening To The Jobs In England?

Ever since my husband was made redundant from the Royal Air Force he has had a number of jobs. All he is looking for is a stable job that he can happily do within his skill set until his retirement. Gone are the days of a permanent position...Gone are the days of useful training for the youth of this country. ( I am very concerned that my son might not even be able to get a job once he has finished his studies.) Even I would not be able to get a job as easily now if I were to lose the job I'm in, not like I used to be able to and I had to reapply for my position last year. I cannot afford to keep going to college to study new skills. This constant wondering as to whether or not jobs are safe is a constant worry. It is not just myself and my husband it is happening to...It's happening nationally. His place of work is going for heavy redundancies and he could be one of them, yet they are re-building parts of the college he works at. This will be his third job in about three years if he is made redundant. He is electrically biased and does need some training. Can anybody in England genuinely help us please?

Looks like the money system is taking your children's future there like it is here. I bet your son can get a job in China, not sure if you want to live there though.

Yes all over Europe there is an austerity program; I presume that indeed the Royal Air Force is cutting back, so the only advise I can give is to get into infrastructure repair, like cars, house appliances, efficient heating, roofing etc. that kind of services will go on all the time, especially in England because of the climate, then the houses and cars need a lot of maintenance. The situation in the US is not that much better only for certain industries who get government contracts.
