    Extended Unemployment Benefits

Isn’t it crazy how President Obama kept us out of a greater depression than the great depression, with something all too well known as “extended unemployment?” Had unemployment benefits been around in 1930, we would not have had a great depression. So my QUESTION, how can we afford this preventing of another great depression and a military budget that is ten times higher than the rest of the worlds combined, now, when we couldn't afford it in 1930? It is more than obvious, WE CAN NOT afford either, so now what, for our children and their children? It is clear, the money system is only delying the obvious affects of sending our jobs over seas, who pays the majority's wages when the extended benifits and war dollars finally runs out? Can't expect more dollars with a society of just services and no production, right, would you servive this way, of course not, how do you think America as we know it can??

    united,
We have done this and will probably continue to do this because we've assumed the role of the worlds police force. We all know that we can't continue to pay for such a huge responsibility. But we are arrogant enough to think our way is the right way and that we should try to shape the world. I would love it if we cut defense spending by 80% and spent a few billion dollars feeding our poor and improving our schools. Paying teachers a fair wage would be a good move as well.

Wouldn’t it be a nice world if the system that runs this world did what was right and good for the world’s majority, and not what is right for business ethics and capitalism? If the system did what is right for the majority, we wouldn’t need a world’s police force for sure. I for sure am sick and tired of the money system killing my children's future, aren't you?

Kept us out of the greater depression with extended unemployment. Hmmm....not sure that was the case, so what you are saying is President Obama modified the definition of unemployment and made it a social program? Unemployment is a benefit that we as workers earn. Our employers contribute to unemployment based on our salary. So, bottom line is, it's a benefit, because if our employers did not have to contribute to this, then our salary conceivably would be that much greater. Social Security is another good example.
Military Budget: Our percent of our GDP (Gross Domestic Product) that goes into the DOD budget is about 4.06%, while extremely high, Saudi's GDP to military is about 10%. In 1999-2001 (prior to 9/11 obviously) it was at a low of 3%. During the Vietnam war is was about 9.4% and during WWII it was about 37.8%. Yes, America by far spends more on it's military than any other country, China being second, but not really close. Can we cut our military budget, yes, of course. Get out of Afganistan and Iraq. Kind of mean, but that's the solution.
America, unfortunately is the world's police. We accepted that role, and demanded that role...Unfortunately, we have became a services industry and outsource all of our previous production. We cannot maintain our role as the leader of the world when we have nothing to back this up. What do we have? Natural resources? Yeah, some I guess, but our nation succeeded and kicked butt in WWII because we were a country that produced most of our products. We now produce hamburgers...not very healthy ones at that.
We all know the problem, but we need to find solutions. Some examples would be: feed our homeless, rather than the world's homeless...sounds simple right? Stop fighting wars where there is not going to be a positive outcome...you think we would have learned from the Soviet Union about Afganistan. There are so many ways, but we as you would say "The United Majority" need to find solutions and need to make sure our representatives are doing just that: "Representing us". Anyway, enough rambling. Like the post! Just like to debate.

    Yes John,
unemployment has kept us out of a greater great depression and is the only thing keeping this countries crime rate from doubling overnight. Once unemployment runs dry (when a Republican is president for sure) all too many of the majority will find themselves homeless. Of course many will choose to steal and pillage for food and survival, what else will they be able to do, watch their family starve to death?

Our population is growing faster than ever, but not our production jobs (except for bad hamburgers) they are gone for good, according to our president's words too "our old production jobs now China based production jobs will never come back to America." America can not keep its work force working without production jobs. Sure we can serve all your service needs in America today, but who needs a new roof if you don't have a roof to service?

Trust me; I am on the president’s side with the move to extend unemployment benefits far past the normal limits, he has kept us out of the greatest great depression with his move. Yes we all pay into unemployment, but before President Obama and the economy collapse, extended unemployment benefits of today did not exist.

As far as America being the world’s police, that can be debated, thanks to our policies with Israel, the East considers us the world’s tyrants.

If you like to debate, you came to the right place; there are many of evolved non eye blind sheep Democrats in America still!!! Of course all Republicans are evolved non eyes, but that didn’t keep the “blind evolution” created by the money system from affecting all political parties. The sad truth to the matter, Americans refuse to see America for what it really is now and where we are being led to by the money system. Unless the majority changes the system, the system will succeed in taking America down for money. We will not be the first culture to fail because of money either, and yes all history DOES repeat.

"united" well said! you see the picture as it is. As a retired person I see things from the past "pop" up again; a consumption society can last only so long as there is consumption. The "gadget" world. made in China things. will eventually slow down because of over-saturation. In the meantime more baby boomers retire and hopefully no new wars, will give a lot of the military and industry fewer jobs. I believe this trend will continue and sorry to say we may end up like the great depression like in the 'thirties" . I'm absolutely not being negative, I personally do not think that with the present "lobby" run government we can prevent such, unless the government starts spending on infrastructure (roads, bridges etc) on a big scale and starts cutting "too big to fail" projects like the F35 which suck huge amounts of money from the budget.

Dutch, for sure I see the problem as it is, once the majority does too, then we can change the system. But there is a lot putting blinders on the majority's eyes, I try to rip those blinders off and so do you, thanks and don't ever stop, ripping the blinders off is our only chance for a good future for all our children.

Well, I make just as much as a person on unemployment makes, probaly less. The reason I'm not unemployed, is because I would have no money at all. No government program is going to help me if I don't take a low paying job, but people can live for years now with no job, if they find a way to collect unemployment, which must be very easy these days. There is plenty of low paying jobs out there, but most here think they are better than that, I know I am not.
