My concern is since in this DECADE/CENTURY we are using gas anyways, we should drill in TEXAS we should NOT give the Middle East any of our money which in turn would save us money by getting our gas HERE or in CANADA. Im not saying drill in Alaska which can hurt the fish/animals by any means- if this is what you are inferring? For our right wing friends,
The fact of the matter is, the oil we get imported from the middle east, is a drop in the bucket compared to the oil we get from Canada and Mexico already. Canada is the number one foreign supplier of oil to America, Mexico is number two and three, with Mexico and Sudi Arbia selling us about the same amount. NO we will not need any of this oil, when we get a real solar leader in America, and for sure what oil we have here for the "oil" companies to profit from(not you or I), would not be needed either!
All it would take for us to not need most of our foreign oil we buy, would be if what President Obama said should happen happens! President Obama said "our cars should dounble their mileage!" Hmm, lets think about that for a second shall we? How can a President say such a thing without already knowing it could happen? You or the majority would think this to be impossible, but the system, President Obama and I know for a fact this is possible. The reason it hasn't happened decades ago and now that President Obama has gotten re-lected is, if our cars get the mileage they could get, oil sales and fuel tax would be a third of what it is now. Why aren't the right wingers holding President Obama to his promise of double the mileage? Why is the majority of America putting up with oil owning our politicians?"

Tee13 Wrote: I live in San Diego. I have an issue about our GAS PRICES- . . . I cannot afford 4.30 per gallon for gas, . . .
In NV its 1.0O or more a gallon less how can this be one state over for so much less since it ALL comes from the MIddle East?
We need to boost our economy and I personally dont want my condo to foreclose, if I don't have sales this will happen.
Why are not drilling in the US? Well, California has the most restrictive environmental laws which translates to the mandated quality and purity of the raw gasoline blendstock that is used in the state. California raw gasoline is the most expensive in the nation because of this purity. California has 20 refineries and all their production goes just to supply California which, as far as gasoline is concerned, is an island in the middle of the ocean and that ocean is named "environmental law". Is anyone left in the state that has the balls to suggest that more refineries should be built?
When you have production disruptions it has instant and deep repercussions in the marketplace because there is no reserve in the state and raw blendstock (or finished gasoline) can not be brought in from outside the state because it doesn't meet Cali's regulations.
Think of it as wine. If I wanted my wine made from the most expensive grapes and only stomped by blond bikini supermodels I'm gonna pay for it . . . Well, you wanted it, you got it so open that wallet!
California also has the 2nd highest tax load in the nation (behind NY). By far the biggest profiteers in gasoline sales anywhere are the governments with their hands in the pockets of everyone in every step of the extraction, refining, distributing and retail sale of the product.
The combined federal, state and local tax load on every single gallon of gasoline sold in San Diego is about 68 cents . . . And there's talk about raising it another 3.5 cents this summer.
So, who's in charge of killing refineries, writing the strictest environmental regulations in the nation and taxes, taxes, taxes?
