We all know what President Nixon will always be most remembered for and where his place in history will becoming the first and only President to resign, but let's take a moment to look at some of the things that President Nixon both proposed and accomplished under his tenure in office:

The formation of the Environmental Protection Agency in June of 1970
The Clean Air Act of 1970
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

Now, I am by no means a big Nixon fan, and I am well aware of the Drug War being started under his watch, but one does have to admit that he was somewhat liberal with regards to the environment and healthcare policy. There are many things that I disagree with Mr. Nixon on, but I would say that I would not mind having someone like him on the Republican side standing up for the environment and health care for all. It must also not be forgotten that he signed the Equal Rights Amendment that the states subsequently rejected. Can anyone imagine a Republican President doing something like that in this day and age?
