I'm brand new to this forum. Are there websites that provide info on how congress works? For example: How many days of the year are each of the houses in session? Or another: How does one go about meeting with our Senator or Representative and get a tour of congress?

I'm sure a Google search would bring that up. Certainly the congress has a website that must have that info.

I'm sure you could get a tour of congress by one of their aides or other personnel, but don't plan on a showing by your or any other representative. Just think about it, these guys and gals earn between $180,000 and $200,000 a year, and for how many days work, IF you can call it work? Just look at the last Congress. They passed a record LOW number of bills, just by sitting in their offices with their staffs, talking on the telephone, flying back and forth from their home districts, taking how many junkets across the world, receiving how many other perks, and accomplishing nothing, all at the taxpayers expense in addition to their very healthy salary. They think this privileged life sets them above and beyond any menial tasks such as might be asked by their constituents like you or me. Maybe things will begin to change from the last several congresses, but only time will tell.
