Why is he trying to block her nomination as Sec. of State? Yes, John Kerry would open a senate seat but there must be more and here it is. A "lowly woman" insulted the great war monger. McCain has never seen a war he didn't love and want to (Bomb, bomb Iran) enter or start. Libya, Syria, Iran. stay in Iraq for 100 years if necessary, Afghanistan war forever. His greatest nomination, Sarah Palin one heartbeat from the presidency. Hey Repubs we won-get over it. Instead of secession, impeachment, stupidity just try governing.

Susan Rice repeatedly criticized McCain as ‘dangerous’ and ‘reckless’ during 2008 campaign
Most of Sen John McCain’s opposition to the idea of Susan Rice as Secretary of State comes from her defense of the Obama administration’s response to the attacks in Benghazi. But Rice has criticized McCain repeatedly, especially while serving as Obama’s senior foreign-policy adviser for his 2008 campaign.

Rice, a Clinton administration veteran, became Obama’s senior foreign-policy adviser, after she chose him over Hillary Clinton early in the presidential race. That put Rice squarely in opposition of McCain, each time the war veteran tried to challenge the junior senator’s national security credentials.

“His tendency is to shoot first and ask first questions later, it is dangerous and we can’t afford four more years of this reckless foreign policy,” Susan Rice said to reporters about McCain in August 2008.

When McCain tried to paint Obama as someone who routinely shied away from tough decisions on Iraq, Rice was there to tear down his record.

“On critical, factual questions that are fundamental to understanding what is going on in Iraq and the region, Senator McCain has gotten it wrong and not just once but repeatedly,” said Rice in June 2008.

When McCain tried to go after Obama for his bland response to Russia’s aggressive moves in Georgia in August 2008, Rice again portrayed McCain a dangerous “shoot from the hip” leader.
“We were dealing with the facts as we knew them,” Rice said on MSNBC. “John McCain shot from the hip, very aggressive, belligerent statement. He may or may not have complicated the situation.”

Rice even got personal with McCain when Obama traveled overseas to visit the Middle East.

“I think he wants to get out and do as much as he can Rice said about Obama’s trip. “I don’t think he’ll be strolling around the market in a flak jacket.”

Rice was subtly referring to McCain’s trip to Iraq a year earlier, after he was mocked by liberals for wearing body armor while visiting what looked like a peaceful market in Baghdad.

Thanks for the terrific update. I had forgotten a lot of what you presented, and yes it makes it very clear that he thinks he has legitimate reasons to block her appointment. However, I also think he has lost a lot of respect that Americans once had for him, myself included. And it is not just Ms. Rice he is after, I believe his true target is President Obama, the victor against him in 2008. Time to retire John.

Yes, I think McCain made enough money of the "war machine" by now and should retire. I noticed that he kind of acts like he is the President right now, because Obama is out of town. Furthermore on the financial news I saw that the major "war" manufactures; are hoarding their money right now which are on the average for the four major ones in the order of $200 billion each, just in case of the fiscal cliff. But anyway I have no idea why this "old greedy buzzert" hangs on; why does'nt he buy a nice villa in Iraq or Afghanistan on the beach?
He's milking the Libya issue like crazy; however he's totally wrong on it. It is not the issue who has done it" only word play" but the ignorant ambassador who thought (wrongly) that the "new" Libyans liked him and thus went there totally unprepared. This guy should have asked protection to the "x"d' extend BEFORE he went there, which he did not do. I've been there, they "liked" me too, but I did not like them let alone trust them!!

I would like for John McCain to retire he has been off the mark for a long time ... He is staging a vendetta and I have heard so many times where he has been wrong on so many things. He is just a bitter old man who lost to Barack Obama in 2008 and has not gotten over it..Apparently the people of America thought he didnt have enough intelligence to lead the Country back then so if he retired now no one would miss him ...

    "Hoarding their money"
Aren't these people job creators, how could they hoard the billions they made with tax cuts for the rich and war toy sales? I guess this job creator thing is a lie, what these rich are really is "China job creators." McCain lost to President Obama in 2008 for one simple fact, America is sick and tired of the "Republican for the rich party." The last election has proven this too. The Republican Party is going to fall into history unless they completely change their agenda. Not a chance of that happening, when your number one goal is to never have a tax increase, only tax cuts for the very rich instead. "See ya Republican Party"
