    I think the old boy just wanted out ASAP and found the way that means nobody will say "want this job?".

    I was really surprised to hear that the affair was descovered because the FBI was auditing the Directors e mails...?!?!?!
    Isn't Director of the CIA a good enough job title to feel your e mails are safe ? Unbelievable.

    Heck no, CIA director is not a sufficient title to have your life and emails guaranteed as safe from prying eyes. Just like we have read in some other threads on here, "God is real" or God is not real" but Petraeus is definitely not God, and therefore is subject to the whims of mankind, like government, wiretaps, bugs, etc. Like the old saying goes: You play, you pay.

    This guy is a bureaucratic ring knocking idiot. There are many, many more qualified people who could do a better job as CIA Director. First thing I thought of when the news broke was the potential for blackmail, even the innocent kind, if there is such a thing. I was an officer in the military and have first hand knowledge of the nincompoops who are promoted based on the Peter Principle. They are surrounded by “yes men” and seldom have to make a decision themselves. I wonder how much we will be paying him for his double dipping pension. He is a disgrace and I hope he will be remembered as a disgrace. Hope he comes clean on who knew what and when but that is probably way too much to expect from this administration. I feel very sorry for his poor wife.

    Unfortunately adultery/affairs have been going on since the beginning of time/ in all walks of life
    what is sad is that it goes public and most of the time before all of the facts are truly known.
    We forget we're humans ; in an imperfect world and each of us carry a cross of guilt in one form or other.
    And let us not forget; it's not those here on earth that we have to worry about in judging us;
    it's ourselves and our Maker whomever he/she maybe.
