I wonder if any of the msnbc commentators caught the racism in Romney's vulgar remark to Obama - which went something like this:

    " Don't worry, you'll get your chance.."

I don't remember whether he actually said "don't worry", but the rest of the quotation is surely accurate.

Of course, he left out the word that usually ends this comment to a black man, i.e. "boy".

No doubt about Romneys attitude toward race. He comes from a secretive church, which only allowed African Americans to be members 12 years ago. Overall, aside from what would count as assertiveness, and some combativeness, which would be acceptable. Romney was deliberaly rude, trying to cut President Obama off, and trying to dominate the discussion. Aside from being a liar, he also shows a lack of respect for the President, AND the office of the sitting president of the United States.
Romney comes across as a hard-nosed CEO, driving a hard deal, and talking over, around and through everyone else. But President Obama gave him as good as he got, and more! Mr. Romney definitely showed his true side on a number of issues: and it was not a pretty sight, nor one that would benefit the country.

It should be seen as an act of TREASON! It doesn't matter if the President is a duck, respect is due that office

IT'S NOT SURPRISING. Racism had not died it has been in a deep sleep. It's sad how racism still plays a part in the way the laws and treatment of people within the United States. The media need to look and report this on the news. Blacks are still in slavery but with invisible chains. They cannot get over the lost cause the racism is still alive. IF YOU ARE POOR AND NEED HELP FROM THE GOV, EVEN IF YOU ARE WHITE, BLACK, LATINO, ASIAN YOU ARE HERE TO SERVE. Just look at the Political map, history tells all. Clinton didn't have this amount of resistant and then when a black man comes into office, ALL HELL BREAK LOSE.

While I certainly agree that Romney was crass, crude, impolite, bold, and yes even anti-black in his conduct, it is this anti-black that I want to stress. I say this because not only is Romney this way, BUT the Republican Party is as well. I didn't think this at first, I just thought it was this filthy rich zillionaire that puts himself on a pedestal, but now in these more recent days, just look what John McCain and Lindsey Graham are doing to Susan Rice, who has done NOTHING but perform her job with dignity and respect. Another instance of two more white Republicans showing utter contempt for the Black race.

How very sad that Race has to be a topic in this day and age. We are all brothers and sisters.

Yes we are all brothers and sisters, and we should always treat each other as such. I realize that there are moments of anger and disgust, but those are in our nature and must be professed as only angry moments, not a long-term inner feeling, and apologize. And the responsibility does not end there. The offended party has the obligation to accept the other's apology, and not look down upon them for one second longer. Oftentimes hard to do, but what a satisfactory feeling it gives.

    Great posts by all.
Sadly racism is very much alive and well. It's woven in to our society and permiates too many thoughts. It is silently exercised during the interview process as old white men don't hire those African Americans. It's compounded by our judicial system who put's people into jail with a certain slant mirroring racism. The previous two factors assist the downward spiral. Extreme poverty causes people to commit crimes.
It's spoken about in private conersations. Perhaps those who are guilty forget that a mere 200 years ago, much prejudice was effecting whites who were from Ireland, Italy, or whichever country was being targeted at the time.

How long have humans lived on this planet?

That's how long there has been racism and prejudice, and it's unlikely to change anytime soon.

Racism is far from color blind; all colors are racist, why? Racist is a force of evil that comes out of us when we are confronted with others who are different than us. Instead of the power of good taking some souls views, the power of evil takes many, with racist comes many more acts of evil. As long as we have both the forces of good and evil on earth, we will have racist people, people who for the most part are controlled by the forces of evil, and not by the forces of good, your color doesn't make you racist, your heart does.
