The republicans are so quick to promote Adam Smith as the "Father of Capitalism" arguing that he was laissez-faire and a supporter of free trade. Adam Smith was a "Democratic Capitalist" not a "Gangster Capitalist". He believed that Capitalism only worked if there was an equitable distribution of wealth. I incude a few quotes:
    (I) Redistribution of Wealth and Taxes

"The subjects of every state ought to contribute towards the support of the government,as nearly as possible, in proportion to their respective abilities; in proportion to the revenue which they respectively enjoy under the protection of the state"

'The rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion"

"Every tax, however,is,to the person who pays it,a badge not of slavery, but of liberty"

(II) Role of Government in trade

    "
The recovery of a great foreign market will generally more than compensation the transitory inconvience of paying dearer during a short time for some sorts of goods"

In other words goods made in America might cost more initially; however,  the recovery of the economy depends upon non-tariff barriers like those used in Germany to protect its manufacturing. If Countries want to import into Germany they have to meet certain standards in quality of goods and in environmental standards. This is Fair trade where the business, the worker and the environment are respected and protected.

The above quotes were taken from page 11 on wikipedia.  www.enwikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_Smith

Good research! The Republicans twist the Constitution and the Bible so badly for their causes, what is it to twist a single man's words?

Why is robbery illegal then? That's redistributing wealth isn't it? Or is it only ok if the robbing is done by the government for the benefit of those willing to sell their vote to keep the robbers in power? Kind of like a cut of the take, right? Why is it that only those not willing to do what it takes to work themselves up out of a lower class existance think wealth redistribution is a good idea? Is it because it's easier to vote in an entitlement dealing politician and beg for the scraps he will throw you than throwing off his leash and assuming the responsibility for making your own fortune yourself? Or do you think you can't do it, and the entitlement scraps are the best you can hope for?

I read to this point:  "Why is robbery illegal then? That's redistributing wealth isn't it?"

Way to prove FreedomFighter's words with your quote ole blind one, that the Republicans twist words.  The majority is not blind like  you and your party, again our education here does not come from Russ L. and the rest of the twisted pups.
