Romney rants and raves against Obama, saying "Where are his plans for jobs?  There are none."  I say the exact same thing to Romney, where are YOUR plans for jobs?  Obama's plans for jobs were presented to the House as a bill, which they whole-heartily voted AGAINST.  The bill would have put millions of Americans to work on repairing bridges, roads, and runways, BUT the House Republicans voted it down.  Yes Mitt, YOUR Party voted against all those jobs, so where do you think the responsibility for the high unemployment lies?  You all were so intent on denying a second term for our President, that you let the infrastructure in our country fall apart, regardless of how many families were hurt.  All I can say is "shame on you Mitt".

In all fairness Mr. Romney and his friends have a plan to create jobs. Too bad that most of them will be in Red China. But this will help the average American. Some of the money they make will trickle down to the rest of us. Yeah right!

President Obama's unemployment solution was voted down unanimously by the Republican Party.
The TRANSPORTATION BILL was the first Legislative proposal that Pres. Obama sent to the house to relieve the Unemployment crisis.....but GOP turn around and ask the President to cut taxes on the rich and the wealthy in exchange to approving his Bill.  President didn't go for it so, the Republican House voted it down unanimously.
Transportation Bill was suppose to be the rebuilding of our Infrastructure and at the same time creating a million jobs in the process to reduce high Unemployment....Bill Clinton said to the effect why they turn that down, "Republican said they made a pact with each other that they will do everything in their power to take the President out of his job....and not create jobs"  The Republicans put theTransportation Bill in the Back Burner and refuse to pass it.
Then comes the next proposal......the American Jobs Act which will create two (2) million jobs.
In order for it to get passed, President Obama agreed to create a Bi-partisan Commision on Reducing Deficit.....and here's the story behind this

Ryan claimed that Obama "created a bipartisan debt commission. They came back with an urgent report.  He thanked them, sent them on their way, and then did exactly nothing."
The truth on the matter was, the Simpson-Bowles debt commission never issued an official report—in part because Paul Ryan, who sat on the commission, voted against it because he and his fellow Republicans opposed raising taxes on the rich to increase revenue and reduce the debt as proposed by President Obama.  They answered the President with a resounding unanimous vote against passing the President's American Jobs Act.

AND WHO IS SCREAMING JOB LOST AND JOB CREATION?  You guessed it ....it is the REPUBLICANS....and they got the nerve to blame the President on their blatant refusal to create jobs.

Now, ask Romney what is his plan to create jobs?  Did he ever mention how he'd do it?   STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM ROMNEY. ...and waiting....and waiting.....and waiting.....

I guess both candidates forget to mention that we live in an international world, which certainly influences the job market here.
The U.S. export is declining (for instance Caterpillar) because of austerity programs in Europe and slow down in China etc.
In other words export is needed to increase jobs. Furthermore do not forget most factories have become fully automatic the last 20 years; therefore require less unskilled personel.
Local used goods and services may slowly improve, but will take years to grow because of the housing/ food cost inflation etc. Also do not forget all of the military coming home looking for jobs.
In other words job grows will remain slow for years; the present performance under Obama will hopefully continue (he can not do any better under the present circumstances)
So Mitt Romney's job creation will likely be a "fata morgana" (dream along)

Freedom, The trickle down theory was discredited a hundred years or more ago. But we have no sense of history in the US..... Senator Fred Harris of Oklahoma , who ran for president 30 years ago or so had a good answer for the Republicans of that era when they tried to lay the trickle down crap on America in that campaign....He said, "I don't know about you, but I'm tired of getting trickled on. I want to give the Free Enterprise system a does of its own medicine."

Unfortunately, far to many believe the Republican lie that raising taxes on "job creators" causes fewer jobs! The simple fact is that increasing taxes on true job creators has exactly the opposite effect and leads to MORE jobs. If you are one who has been misled by this lie consider the following facts about "job creators" : All job creators are goal oriented creative individuals. Job creators 'make money' by having employees work for them. Each employee contributes to their 'income'. Job creators have a "desired" standard of living and will find a way of achieving that standard. Taxes lower the standard of living and must be 'made up for' by having more employees 'contribute.

The Republican policy of lowering taxes on the top brackets CLEARLY has the effect of reducing the number of jobs!

    Jel,

You say " The Republican policy of lowering taxes on the top brackets CLEARLY has the effect of reducing the number of jobs!" and in addition to that clear lowering of jobs, it also humongously adds to the deficit AND to the incomes of even the non-job creators like Romney, who hasn't used his Bush era tax cuts to create even one job in the last how many years. And even before that, if he did create a job, it was more than triple-cancelled-out by the number of jobs that he sent to China.

My point is: To speed job creation RAISE taxes on 'job creators'!
Yes, the fact that the STUPID policy of lowering the top income tax rates has other deleterious effects is obvious but not as important.
Also the favorable tax treatment of "capital gains" is PURE STUPIDITY. Income is income!
The FICA cap should also be abolished, that alone would fix almost all the problems social security will eventually have.

This is an old thread that finished after the election. I am taking it up again because if Romney had won then the very same employment and economic indicators generated since November of 2012 would have been heralded by the Republican Propaganda machine as a vindication of Republican's good stewardship of our economy. The reality is that "W" was the worst steward of the American economy, ever! Ironically it is Democrats, Bill Clinton for example, who headed a pay down of the national debt that would have made Paul Ryan proud. I think it's possible that Obama may finish his second term with a budget surplus after being handed an economy in total free fall. In spite of being the managerial class, Republicans have proved to be the worst managers.
