Did the big bang create God?

Don't think that answer will be answered for thousands, if not millions of years.

Relative to our awareness in time, 1 micro second ago, we were burning people at that stake for being witches. A micro second later, our awareness rejects the concept of witches as being ignorant. There will come a day, where current religions as they exist today, will be looked upon as being just as ignorant as burning people at the stake for being witches.

Personally, I perceive "God" as collection of all forces that exist in the universe, which likely include forces beyond our current awareness. I'd bet everything I have that what ever defines "God", it is not some old white guy that is constantly judging people for trivial reasons based on criteria that is constantly changing. Ask any evangelical christian, and if they are 100% honest, they will define God as someone who favors white christian people over all others. This is just as absurd as burning a person at the stake for being a witch, yet in the evangelical perception of reality, God does evaluate people by the color of their skin and God had determined that white christian people are superior to all others.... There are endless examples of ignorance today, and imo, is all a matter of the lack conscious awareness of the larger reality, which is an endlessly being discovered per some universal force that is part of the universe.

If we compare the expansion of awareness to the awareness of an average person's life span of 80 years, our level of conscious awareness is on par with 3 year old. How we responses during life are on par with a 3yr old. Our awareness is that we have grown just to the point where we have barely become self aware, and we have developed a small amount of self-control, and a small amount concern for others. Given we are relatively about 3yrs old after being on the planet for millions of years, its going to take several million more to reach full conscious awareness.

Being able to make that declaration presupposes an intelligence that doesn't exist.

I think the only "big bang" will come when Trump farts all over us. Ever looked at the night sky with millions of stars? Sorry we and Trump are nothing in the universe and we still don't know what is beyond it. So "little tiny microbes of people" should stick to the "issues" on this tiny planet and don't create "god's" all over the place: it won't help you; neither does Trump. Amen.

Someone, or some thing we've never seen or met before, lightyears away from here are probably laughing their asses off at how ignorant we are.

e.g. still delivering groceries with a 18 wheel truck.

still orbiting our own planet in a spacecraft? hee haw.

still killing each other on a minute to minute basis all over our world.

There's got to be intelligent life out there somewhere, nobody or thing is as dumb as us.

This is impossible. A created thing cannot create an uncreated being. For something to be considered "God" it must be above all created things (I.E. Time and Space). God is above these things because he created them, how could something that is created create something else? The Big Bang is how Earth was created, but just because the Big Bang was a real event that transpired does not mean that an infinite, all-powerful creator did not use this method to make the world.

I completely disagree. First, the reason why God "favors white evangelical Christians" is because when Christianity spread from Israel to Europe, the Europeans thought it would be beneficial to create a "White Jesus" because it would resonate more with the European people. Also, Europe became a powerhouse when it came to conquest and any type of technology meaning that when Christianity spread to other countries, by way of European Evangelists, other religions had no choice but to accept the "White Jesus" that the Europeans had construed.

In reality, Jesus was a Jew who founded the religion of Christianity. He had tan skin and curly hair like wool and he was a carpenters son. He lived for 33 years, living a sinless life, and was crucified for claiming to be the Messiah (Fun fact: Jesus is the only person in the history of any religion to claim to be God). He died and was buried and on the third day he rose and then ascended to heaven after giving the famous "Great Commission." This is the foundation for true Christianity. The narrative has been tainted but the message is still the same no matter if Jesus was black, blue, white or even purple! The fact that he died for our sins and rose is why Christianity is such a popular religion.

Christianity, like all religions, thrives because of the fear factor and the promise of eternal life. It's as simple as that. Certainly there are messages in their scriptures pushing guidelines for morality, but I know atheists with more morality than some evangelicals. However, as the many posts in this seven year old thread show, arguing "God" never changes anyone's mind.

How can we ever tackle the colossal problems of our day when we have a major political party that rejects science and wants to force our teachers to teach creationism to young kids whose brains are still forming? And if that weren't bad enough--the chairman of the Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works, Senator Jim Inhofe, is a damn creationist!
How can we ever work together to combat global climate change when half of the country thinks that a creature in the sky is pulling all the strings? We literally have countries throughout the world falling into the sea, massive wildfires raging in our own country, extreme weather event after extreme weather event, and much our country thinks that it's a great thing because that means Jesus is coming back any day now.

I watched Richard Engel's program on China last night. The Chinese technological advancement is mind boggling, but they are unencumbered by both political and religious roadblocks. The Republican Party has become a theologically driven party where "God" trumps science. Even those in the party who know better have to pander to the evangelicals at every turn.

Religion does not hold back the Chinese from doing great things, but under the new Trumpism of the Republican Party America is taking steps backward. The Chinese advancements are noted for their futurist thinking over many years. We cannot match that when the Republican Party's futurists are the religious right whose only vision is the second coming of Christ.

Schmidt, just read the thing Arizona wrote about that. In the Netherlands only 26 % go to church (in China less than 7%) and existing churches are used for total other purposes. However here they built churches like crazy, because the people who sell their snake oil make tax free money from it. Amen

    pops:

You are exactly correct about the appearance of Jesus. The link below goes into more detail, but the image of Jesus we are most familiar with was based on a 16th century Italian named Cessar Borgia:

According to a study that was done by the BBC, the picture below is what Jesus REALLY looked like:

In today's world, a brown-skinned Palestinian with no papers, no marketable skills, and no English language skills would not even get into this country.

He was an "homeless" bum (like the picture above) who was "gay" running around with 12 other "gays"; the only women mentioned was his mother (Maria); never had an "girlfriend" or wife, let alone "kids" or a dog or camel. All this was written (and cooked up) years later when the "disciples" were in jail" in Rome (who also had no kids or wives). Who ever got the Romans so crazy to make an "religion" out of it, nobody knows. I guess the "Ceasar" at that time was thinking like Trump/Pence; we can use it to "manipulate" the dumb people i.e. if they are so stupid to believe all of this, then it must be easy as well to have them "obey and be "loyal" to me, so we got to make a lot effort to keep them "dumb' and "naive" that way. So don't educate them; keep them dumb.

Pop, wake up; guess who wrote all of this nonsense? HUMANS did. People who herded sheep believed these things; not people who accept reality of life on this tiny microscopic piece of dirt floating in between an zillion other objects in space.

Dead bodies have not enough "energy" to shoot up into the air or space, and to what destination in space? Let alone that the "storage chip" in your brain survives without "oxygen" as well the data in it is never ever retrieved by anyone after death. Death is as with any living thing and the "left overs" are "recycled" only on earth, and for all you know, parts of you may end up in an worm. Snake oil is sold all over the place. Nothing "out there" gives a "hoot" about humans, because nothing out there even know we exist. Ever seen anything from outer space "meddle" with what "humans" do, other than an excuse to cover up "human made" mistakes or have "something" to blame it on? The "universe" does not care if this tiny piece of dirt explodes or gets polluted or gets "nuked" it continues as always also without this tiny planet and its micro humans The truth hurts Amen.

    All a myth.

    Myth defined:

    NOUN

a traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural beings or events.

Dock, don't forget that the catholic church started only after about 700 years after the so called Jesus died. The writings were also made much later; the disciples in an Roman prison surely were not given parchment and bottles of ink let alone an feather to write. In those days lots of fear existed for the unknown; nowadays this fear still exist in certain area's even in this country; just look at what are the most religious States here. The ridiculous part is that at present everyone is connected to the outside world via the media, but in those places it seems that people don't absorb "facts" of life and stick to the old "church" indoctrination and become even more fanatic about it. Around the world it is an fact that in mostly "poor" places, religion is dominant.
