It's ideas like this that just drop my jaw. Louie Gohmert, Rep. from Texas is trying to take the movie theater shooting and twist it into some kind of political cause.
"We have been at war with the very pillars, the very foundation of this country... and when... you know... what really gets me, as a Christian, is to see the ongoing attacks on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and then some senseless crazy act of terror like this takes place,"
You read that correctly. Gohmert is suggesting that the shooting is a direct result of some war on Christians. Somehow, a demographic that consists of 75% of the country, is being persecuted and the result is mass murder.
He needs to take a lesson from a couple other politicians are the proper way to respond to such tragedies.
"Our time here is limited and it is precious. and what matters at the end of the day is not the small things, it's not the trivial things, which so often consume us and our daily lives. Ultimately, it's how we choose to treat one another and how we love one another. I am so grateful that all of you are here. I am so moved by your support. But there are going to be other days for politics. This, I think, is a day for prayer and reflection."
"Ann and I are deeply saddened by the news of the senseless violence that took the lives of 15 people in Colorado and injured dozens more. We are praying for the families and loved ones of the victims during this time of deep shock and immense grief. We expect that the person responsible for this terrible crime will be quickly brought to justice."
