So I have been reading A LOT of stuff about voter purges recently. I've never heard of these before this election year. Can someone help explain this? I think read an article about it happening in NC and I have seen a ton of articles about Florida like this one where a women who was born in Akron, OH has been removed for not being born in the U.S.

I understand mistakes happen, but there seems to be A LOT of mistakes happening. Rick Scott is really pushing for these voter purges and I would hate to accuse him of election tampering or corruption but, at least from the articles, the purges seem to be focused at a certain political party.

Can anyone shine some light on this for me?

All people getting letters are having their citizenship brought into question.

Apparently Rick Scott has a list of 180,000 people who may not be eligible. A list that clearly not credible when 91-yr old war heroes who were born in the U.S. are being disenfranchised.

This may be the beginning of the end of this. A judge has ruled that the list is not credible and has overturned the voter purge. A judge has also blocked a bill that would make voter registration drives much more difficult.

For a party that claims to be more American, they sure seem to go out of their way to keep people from voting.

You have got to hand it to the GOP! They may be corrupt(they are),greedy(they are),but one thing they are stupid.
They saw with their own eyes in '08 the damage a serious get-out-the-vote drive can do for Democrats.Ever's been one state level bill after another chipping away at these "new" voters...all the while doing their level best to make sure no more turn up.
Got to hand it to them...they will do or say anything to try to push their agenda on this country, and if cutting voter rolls will do the golly, let's wrap it in red-white-and blue, and sell it to the people as "good government".!

Scott is ignoring federal demands to stop the Florida Voter purge, and says it is completely legal. And his office is going on the offensive.

"Florida also accused another federal agency, the Department of Homeland Security, of violating the law by denying Florida access to a federal citizenship database."

Isn't this borderline big brother action?

    EDIT: Forgot to add source

Note that I think Florida is refusing to adhere to a legal cease and desist order. Thought I'm not exactly sure if the order is legally binding or just a threat of action. I'm versed well enough in that area.
