Planned Parenthood is suing the state state of Texas for unlawfully excluding Planned Parenthood and its hundreds of thousands of patients from life-saving women’s health services. Perry's health adviser has announced that if Planned Parenthood wins their case, Perry will end all women's health care services in the state.

So what is the reason for PP's exclusion? Because of certain privacy laws, Republicans fear that some of the money may unwittingly be used to help battered women who are also illegal immigrants.

So, Perry is threatening to end support for battered and abused women to theoretically fix a problem that no one has evidence exists.

    Zach:

Governor Brewer signed HB 2800 last Friday. Although you can read more about the bill at the link below, the net effect is that the state will no longer fund health services that Planned Parenthood provides to impoverished women.

Although the common link between the Texas and Arizona laws is ALEC, another organization that has been writing "model laws" is Americans United for Life (AUL):

    Their website is listed below:

I couldn't find a source link this morning for the "pairing" pf the  Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood (see below) but I suspect that ALEC, AUL, or both are behind the website listed below:

I loved the response of Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma, who bought 278 cases of Girl Scout cookies in response to Representative Bob Morris' comments to the state legislature about the Girl Scouts.

Don't forget what Mitt Romney said just two months ago as reported by the Huffington Post:

"Of course you get rid of Obamacare, that's the easy one, but there are others," he said.

"Planned Parenthood, we're going to get rid of that."

“When Mitt Romney says he wants to ‘get rid’ of Planned Parenthood, he means getting rid of the preventive health care that three million people a year rely on for cancer screenings, birth control, and other preventive care," said Dawn Laguens, Vice President for Planned Parenthood Action Fund, in a written statement. “Mitt Romney simply can’t be trusted when it comes to women’s health."

Is Romney's promise any different from any other Republican candidate?  It's a pretty clear choice to me...and another reason to vote for President Obama.

Abortion is now "life-saving women's health services".  I'm sure the little children in the womb who are murdered would disagree with that statement.  Liberals lie.

Abortion isn't the issue here. No one has brought up abortion. And abortion is a legal procedure anyway, so it's a non point anyway.

Reread my post. Texas lawmakers are worried that some of the money may inadvertently go to battered women who are also illegal immigrants due to certain privacy laws.

Do you know something that I don't know? Is this attack on Planned Parenthood a backhanded attempt to punish them because 1-2% of their offered services which are completely legal?

All I can really say without throwing up..is consider the source.Rick Perry has already exposed himself as a light weight, bought and paid for pol.Brewer isn't any better, they are all trying to see who can be the most heartless on any class, but the top 5%.And this needs to CHANGE.Good luck with that!
As several of my friends have stated in these and other like minded forums...it's the congressional races this year that will decide whether the barbarians get in or not. That's the climate we find ourselves in.

Please tell me, what are the "life saving services" done by Planned Parenthood?

Planned Parenthood offers many services, and I don't pretend to know them all. For the sake of saving time, I shall try to list a few, that have been mentioned (above) on previous posts. They offer advice on birth control and family planning. They do pap smears & other screening that may identify cancer before it spreads too far. In some cases, they refer women who want an abortion to the appropriate place. And I don't know all the details, but they mention above that there are battered women's shelters, for women who have been abused. Almost ALL of those may be considered to be "life saving" measures.

I know that YOU want to say that abortion is "NOT" a Life Saving service. But there are many abortions being done each year, because the pregnancy itself is threatening the "life of the mother." Some people are so callous that they think the mother should die in order to save the unborn fetus. But who shall take care of it? And who decides what is more important -- the mother or fetus?

If the Repubs want to pursue their ridiculous agenda, that "Life begins with a sperm" at the moment of conception or before. It is totally nuts to think they know anything about Biology, since they are so dumb about Law & Morality on anything else. You have heard their random quotes on the matter of "rape" -- or "intentional rape" -- or if any woman "must have" a baby born of such a tragic act. Frankly, most of the statements spoken by the Repub party in the last 10 years, would have qualified them for a Nut House & a Strait Jacket 30 yrs ago.

Keep in mind, boys --- that if "life begins the minute the sperm is ejaculated" --- then masturbation is Murder.
