Arizona's Immigration bill, SB 1070, the "Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act", is by far the broadest and strictest anti-illegal immigration measure in recent U.S. history. Way to go Arizona, yet again...
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), chairman of a Senate subcommittee on immigration, plans to kill this bill by banning states from creating their own immigration legislation.
First off, I commend AN effort on Chuck's part to stop Arizona and other states that want to follow suit with this kind of crazy legislation. However, THE effort he's proposing seems both almost impossible to get approved through Congress and is, dare I say it, seemingly unconstitutional.
What does everyone here think? Good idea or pointless political maneuvering?
