The CDC attributes this change to "increased use of contraception at first initiation of sex and use of dual methods of contraception (that is, condoms and hormonal methods) among sexually active female and male teenagers." More and more research shows that abstinence only sex education is ineffective. Teens are going to have sex. It is going to happen. He is just one more piece that when teens know about contraception and the benefits of it's use, they will use it.

Maybe with this trend, the young can get started/established in their lives before taking on a huge financial responsibility. Although, if you're willing to work for it....... I believe there are benefits to having children while you are young. My wife and I did and we were empty nesters before we were 50. And we are young grandparents as well.
