Does anyone know why Chris Hayes has his own show?

Does anyone know what it is about Chris Hayes that Maddow finds so fascinating? I have watched him more than several times. I would say the man is well spoken, good vocabulary, nice guy, ah,...ah...??????????

Just curious. I believe Maddow once said his show was the best on TV even including hers. I do understand he is a good person, educated, and well versed. It does take more than that for someone to be an interesting host.

I do have a hard time making it past a couple of sentences of poor Chris.

It is a nice thing to promote your friends whenever possible, but I'm wondering if Maddow could not maybe have cocktails with Chris and even Steele and perhaps save us some of the misery. Again, not a comment on the value of the individuals. Merely a statement on the "watchable" factor missing.

Yes, I realize I too may not be so enthralling...however, I do not take up any valuable schedule time on the MSNBC schedule.

    Thank you,

    Gigi

What? "Superpack"?  It would help if you trolls actually knew what the hell you were talking about.

Maddow calls Obama out on his bullshit all the time. She's a damn fine journalist.

I could not disagree with you more. Unlike the talking heads cable shows, who feature biased pundits on both sides, spewing outright lies on the republican side, Chris has think tank people, former policy people both dems ,republicans, tea party, libratarian and if you fact check what they discuss there is no bullshit. You may disagree but for the most part they are as straight forward as I've seen on politics.  I should say when his guests do talk inaccuracies he corrects them on the spot.Chris himself is very aware of his tv audience, if his guests use acronyms he quickly stops them and translates what the acroynm means.
If you saw today's show there was a very intense discussion on the internet piracy act that will be voted on this week in Congress. It was explained very well ( I am a middle school teacher) and am impressed at that. There was great disagreement on the issue but it was made clear who was for and against and why etc.

I haven't watched Chris Hayes new show, but I have seen him fill in for many of the regular MSNBC hosts, and I agree that he knows his stuff. He doesn't have the charisma or entertainment value of some of the other pundits, but I would much rather have a Chris Hayes factual intellectual analysis with competent guests than "be entertained."

That's why I also like Fareed Zakaria's GPS program on CNN. He gets into intellectual discussions on foreign policy and other issues that Fox News viewers could never begin to comprehend.

I know it has been a very long time since you posted this but couldn't stop myself from replying. Perhaps by now you have changed your mind. The level of discourse on UP couldn't be higher. Chris Hayes has been rightfully given the time to cover in depth the political topics of the day. Along with MHP following his show, there are no other news programs devoting this much time and attention to detail for those of us who hunger for this intense analysis of political news. Maddow is right and who would know better?

Started to post on this topic way back at the beginning, but then decided I had not really seen too much of Chris Hayes Show, so I am not fit to judge it. NOW, I have seen Chris Hayes show many times, and I am very impressed. His sincerity and hard work are obvious, and he is an intellectual man who is not obsessed with "image" as much as Truth. He is very avidly invested in our political discourse & has done a marvelous job so far. Let's be more encouraging, & hope he'll get a better Time Slot. GOOD LUCK CHRIS.

Gigi, May I humbly suggest that we should pay more attention to what is being said than to the appearance and manner of the speaker ? Back in the early 50's Adlai Stevenson ran as a democrat against Dwight Eisenhower. Stevenson may have been the most intelligent man to run for President in th 20th century. He had been a governor, senator and eventual ambassador to the UN. Eisenhower. who had never even been elected to the post of dog catcher, won the election( he beat Stevenson twice). After the first election polls were taken to see what had been the deciding factor in Eisenhower's win. It was determined that the women's vote put him over the top. When asked what it was about him that attracted them.... the deciding factor wastheythought he " was cuter" than Stevenson. May I humbly suggest that we should pay more attention to what is being said than to the appearance and manner of the speaker ?

Your third paragraph answers your question. The conversation is fast and furious but worth the listen. Do you have a DVR, try re-listen. I hope you don't give up.
