I just picked up Adam Schiff's book, "Midnight in Washington" recently at the library.

Although I have not finished reading it, it clearly lays out the corruption in the Republican Party.

For a while, Devin Nunes was the chair of the committee investigating the connections between the Trump campaign. When he started to become involved in some very slimy activities, Adam Schiff forced him out.

In January of '22, he resigned from Congress in order to run Trump's Media and Technology Group.

Due to his role as "chief boot licker" to Trump, he was award the Presidential Medal of Freedom in January of 2021.

I guess this country has no shame at all. Why not give this "medal" also to all the Trump "boot kissers/lickers" still sitting in the Government? Cruz certainly deserves this as decoration on on his ugly beard.

I'm afraid that this coming "fall" all these idiots rise to the "top" again and in 2024 re-elect their Czar.

Something must be drastically wrong in this country related to "education" on how to "govern".

But yeah, no wonder this country is part of S. America where they love "dictators".

Yes, how do they manage to get all these"total" idiots to be sent to Washington in the first place.

Again, as I've said so many times the "screening" of all these "candidates" is at fault, because the GOP loves to throw an "wrench" into the machine. But yeah the future will not be kind to this country if we keep up all this stupidity.

Of course Manchin voted against the Dem's "abortion" bill as well the Alaska bitch and NewHampshire bitch.

The same old obstructionists; why does Biden allow these people to be Democrats, while they act as Republicans?

No wonder that this country remains ungovernable. Get rid of the British clotted cream joke of an outdated Constitution and write a new one and keep it up to date. Sorry but this document out of the 17th Century never did deal with "abortions" and even "coat hangers" were not invented yet. Sorry this country is laughable ; getting idiots in like Cawthorn (the "wheelchair kid") makes this government even more ridiculous.

Midnight in Washington; an very correct statement; they all have their wet dreams while sleeping. If I look at certain States where the election "circus" has started with an Doctor Oz and other total idiots like the wheelchair "kid", then forget this country. Is Biden sound asleep? How is it possible that such idiots can run for positions in this "weird" abortion government?

Is n't time to institute "qualification" requirements for any such job? Just "waving" and shouting B.S. makes this an "horror" show. Let alone the "world" is looking on.

Now it shows how how "indoctrinated" this country has become; Electing an GOP Governor who agrees 100% with Trump, means that the stupid people in that State have not learned anything what Trump stands for.

First of all he "ripped" off this government in a big way; he cashed in on the "wall" with lots of "back pocket" money. Second he "loved" dictators like Putin, Chi and Kim as well Erdogan. Looking at what Putin is doing right now "murdering 100"s of Ukrainian people and torturing the captured Ukrainian soldiers makes Trump an accomplish in crime. He was "impeached" twice, but escaped punishment because he paid off certain GOP members in the government.

So what is wrong with the people here who still support an "super crook" like Trump?, who was filling his own pockets and cared only for himself as an spoiled brad as a kid because he did not know anything else. He's now interfering like crazy and lots of "idiots" are helping him. Biden is "afraid" and does nothing to remove the Trump "lovers" and "kid's" with guns.

It is time that the people here get the proper "education"and teach them world history and of the why of "greed" and "incompetence" of their leaders. It is here "Louis the 14th" of France all over again. So may be the "guiliotene's" may have to be gotten out of the"cellar" to get rid of the "traitors" we have, for the good of the country.

No one seems to "control" the behavior of the "rich" here either, yes, then you get an dictatorship by the "rich" and weird "people" , ask Greene and others. The way things are going right now is asking for WWIII.

Also the mess in the stock market and "international" and in this country with an GOP party, who belongs in the "looney" house, then I'm not that optimistic about the future of this country. It is right now just an "circus" of incompetence. As I wrote so many times "the "system" with its outdated Constitution and only "two" parties which are miles apart is bound to fail over time; yes the "cracks" in it are visible even for the blind.

I also bought Adam Schiff's book, but never got a chance to finish it. But yes, Devin Nunes and people like him that are so subservient to Trump, make for interesting case studies by psychologists and other social scientists. That right wing of the Republican Party, Nunes et al, seem to have lost all touch with reality, and what it takes to make a democracy succeed. They throw their efforts and money behind a phony autocrat. I would have thought that these people had some kind of moral compass and appreciation of how fragile democracies are and that continually undermining it by supporting the imposter's big lies sets us up for a future Christian autocracy...or more accurately, Christian fascism. Chris Hedges wrote about Christian fascism in 2008: From the Amazon book review:

"American Fascists, which includes interviews and coverage of events such as pro-life rallies and weeklong classes on conversion techniques, examines the movement's origins, its driving motivations and its dark ideological underpinnings. Hedges argues that the movement currently resembles the young fascist movements in Italy and Germany in the 1920s and '30s, movements that often masked the full extent of their drive for totalitarianism and were willing to make concessions until they achieved unrivaled power.

"The Christian Right, like these early fascist movements, does not openly call for dictatorship, nor does it use physical violence to suppress opposition. In short, the movement is not yet revolutionary. But the ideological architecture of a Christian fascism is being cemented in place. The movement has roused its followers to a fever pitch of despair and fury. All it will take, Hedges writes, is one more national crisis on the order of September 11 for the Christian Right to make a concerted drive to destroy American democracy. The movement awaits a crisis. At that moment they will reveal themselves for what they truly are -- the American heirs to fascism. Hedges issues a potent, impassioned warning. We face an imminent threat. His book reminds us of the dangers liberal, democratic societies face when they tolerate the intolerant."

    =====================

Hedges warned about the threat 14 years ago. The crisis arrived on January 6th and continues to this day as we watch in horror the Republican Party transformation into a Christian fascist cult led by an atheist opportunist (Trump) and nothing much anyone can do about it.

Your last line" ...... and nothing much anyone can do about it" sounds kind of "giving up". Just like on this "site" plenty of people are giving up and are scared to tell the "truth" about this country and the way it is governed.

Indeed "religion" plays an "huge" role by "mis-information" . Common sense is out the door, because of certain media are getting hold of large sections of the country. The "Trump" world is still promoted and lots of people "don't" know better, because of the continuous indoctrination. Certain "figures" here managed to infiltrate our "government", because of the way "people" here are "elected" by "money" and other "tricks". Biden is too weak to remove all these "Trumper's" who also infiltrated the Supreme Court. The "system" of "governing" here is asking for it, because the Constitution never was drafted with 2022 in mind. The "impeachment "debacle" showed clearly that our "laws" are missing an awful lot proper "laws" and "procedures". You can't run an country like this without stringent solid laws and rules. How did we get idiots like Jordan, Greene and Cawthorn into the government, let alone an "kid" who lived on "daddy's "money" all his life and then became President. On top of such an present President who still has not "cleaned up" the ship of the shit of the previous President and continuous with the "braindead" GOP idiots elected by Trump. No wonder that in the present "world turmoil" there is no "unity" at all in our government to "battle" all these weird "movements" popping up.

Yes the "present" incoherent "mess" here will only get worse if you throw in "abortion" and "baby formula" as well "Powell" and "oil" and "migrants" and the "stock market". And the"list" goes on and on.

I just figured out that I have read 20 books about Trump so far. The only one that had good things to say about him was the book written by Corey Lewandowski.

The rest of them describe Trump as ignorant, dishonest, vindictive, dangerous, or mentally ill, or some combination of those.

Every time I finish reading a book about him, I vow not to read any more, but then another book grabs my attention, which is why I just finished reading Alexander Vindman's book.

Glad to see you back; did you find out exactly what happened to this site? I'm wondering who is "running " it and who tries to undermine it. May be you know ways to attract new members with an open mind. How was Vindman's book? At least he has some international experience. Keep up the good work!

I forgot something very important in my piece of "proza" above and that is guess what? How about getting "money out of elections and "appointments"; such would make an huge difference in who we choose. This is the "biggest" problem in this country; "money" should never play an role in "honest" governing. But for the GOP it is their only means of governing by "corrupting" everything. Amen

    Vindman's book is worth reading.

Although Alexander Vindman retired last summer, his twin brother was likely going to be promoted for full colonel in March of this year. Alexander is currently working on a doctorate

American Marxism by Mark Levin remained #1 in nonfiction last week, selling more than 57,000 copies. The Truth About Covid-19 by Joseph Mercola, released in April, had a big week, with sales rising to 21,500 from under 2,000 in the prior week, putting it in second place on the adult fiction list. Alexander Vindman’s Here Truth Matters was third on the category list, selling almost 16,000 copies in its first week on sale.

The fact that a garbage book by a conspiracy theorist outsold a novel by a Purple Heart veteran says a lot about our country.

Levin has been described as "right-wing" by The New York Times, CNN, NPR, and Politico.[6][7][8][9] He is known for his strident criticisms of Democrats and encouragement of primary challenges to congressional Republicans that he considers to be "Republican In Name Only" (RINO). He endorsed Ted Cruz in the 2016 Republican presidential primary and declared himself "Never Trump", but reluctantly endorsed Donald Trump after Trump won the Republican nomination.[10] Since the start of the Trump presidency, Levin's commentary has become strongly pro-Trump.

A friend of mine is writing an book, but met lots of hurdles to do so, and is still busy with it to finish it. In the past I had to write "trip" reports for my "bosses", but never liked it because not always I was allowed to tell the "truth". Books are the same here, it is as long as it "sells". I liked reading in the past, when sitting in the plane on long hauls, to don't get bored. But since retirement, I spent more time in doing things instead. But yeah on this site at least I can try to explain what bothers me, ha ha. So I'm an realist; books often are written to serve an purpose to either elevate your ego, make money of it, or try to change the world or be "political"; depending on your background and what influenced it.

Nowadays the "media" is replacing "books" and " common sense" ; the monkey culture lives on, at least in the US.

Reading too many books will become an "brain" overload related to "facts" and "fiction"

Mark Levin is a horse’s ass. Which is an insult to horses.

I grow weary of the insipid right and their use of socialism, communism and Marxism to rile up the base. They either don’t know the definition, which I doubt, or they know just attaching the words to anything will score them points.
