Steve Benson published a new take on an old song today:

Although Cuomo probably deserves to be criticized, the more important question is why aren't Matt Gaetz and Donald Trump in prison, since they have committed far worse crimes that Cuomo?

My wife says every man with power and money have done many things that they absolutely shouldn't have. I said I never did (not suggesting I was an angel) where she said you weren't in their position. I thought it sounded cynical but she firmly believes it to be true. Cuomo is someone I have always liked but he is up to his neck in alligators and with multiple accusers it looks about 95% certain that his exit is nearly guaranteed. His brother on CNN is taking some heat for being overly supportive.

Take a moment, apologize and move on. There comes a time where you have to be accountable and honest.

Don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out.

Republicans aren't in trouble because Democrats are WAY TOO polite, nice and quiet. We have no attack mode. We don't press issues hard enough. Hell that would be nearly rude. I don't have any idea why so many see that as a positive trait. It certainly is not. It is just overall weakness. It means we not only accept their double standard. We nearly welcome it. We don't strongly insist on accountability, we let things slide with a sense of greater intellect and superiority. That in a nut shell is why I have often called for new and more effective leadership at the DNC. They (R's) get away with 95% while we get away with nothing. Where is our Karl Rove (sp?). We instead have quiet and meek Rachel Maddow. Nobody to say anything mean or to hold anyone accountable.

You're right. The Democrats at least try to be the civil party, but every once in a while, a "take no prisoners" politicians makes it into the party.

    Remember Rahm Emanuel?

Rahm Israel Emanuel . Born November 29, 1959) is an American politician who served as the 55th mayor of Chicago from 2011 to 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 23rd White House Chief of Staff from 2009 to 2010, and as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Chicago between 2003 and 2009.

The reason that Obama got as much done in his first two years office is that Rahm Emanuel said, "fuck 'em - we got the votes"

Remember him ? I watch and enjoy him every Sunday morning on this week with G.S. we need more like him. They need to stop being polite and quiet. Find cameras and get a msg out there. That is especially important to anyone who's not convinced of who or what is right or wrong. Those on that damned fence.

I had no idea that he was on television, so may have to watch him some time.

According to Wikipedia, he apparently will be nominated to be ambassador to Japan.

To give you an idea on how colorful this guy is, consider this:

As political junkies know, years ago Rahm was in charge of electing Democrats to Congress. He became embroiled in a nasty feud with another Democrat. Things got ugly. So just like a mafia boss from “The Godfather,” Rahm sent his enemy a dead fish, with a card that said, “It’s been awful working with you.”

In 21 min after GS is over I am going to do a google search to see prominent Dems who are like him in being effective and not too quiet. If I find a few I am e mailing Mr. Biden again. I e mailed him yesterday about the out of control pharma prices. I e mailed him about 6 weeks ago about the common slaughter of Palestinian folks. My old globe called the country Palestine.

Google offered little to nothing. Tammy Duckworth was a name and she was vetted earlier in the year as Mr. Biden put together a cabinet. Her resume is fabulous.

Rahm could get the Japan ambassador position. I worry that it's more of an important position but not one that directly helps citizens. He was considered for the same but to China. Progressive party members don't like him. To them I would say in '20 Sanders failed. In '16 Sanders failed. Great ideas but perhaps it's too soon. You don't jump across the river, you carefully use the stepping stones.

Back to New York. Cuomo's career is over. A poll mentioned yesterday on the news said that 70% of New Yorkers want him to resign. At a time with much overdue sensitivity towards women's issues and protection for those who were wronged, he's toxic. On television an analyst said he's a man on an island. He was told "and it's high tide".

During the ugliest early months of the pandemic when he held daily press conferences my wife would say "My president is on television". At one point that was an interesting consideration. Now it's laughable.

Americans are against him and it's becoming ugly dead weight for the Democratic party.

I guess lots of people don't realize that this is an Trump show to get rid of Cuomo. Trump not only touched many more "women" getting them in bed and grabbing their p.....y, than Cuomo ever did, but sits solid in his castle collecting hoards of money without any pain. What an horrible mentality here, even the Dems and Biden jumped on this horror show. I call these people hypocrites.

Of course Trump wants him out, so he will "work" it, so that his replacement sings his tune.

    Stupid country for sure.

Yes Trump is laughing all the way to the "bank". He (Trump) got his way again. I bet the replacement will be someone who Trump can manipulate as well. How come the dumb asses in the DNC don't understand what is going on all the time. Take Francken for instance, he did nothing wrong, but got also tossed out by his own party. This is the case again, because stupid Biden helped even to kick Cuomo out. Cuomo did a lot for the people of NY State and tried to curb the Covid, but no thanks from the Democrats; none of the women who he touched got hurt or got the decease; he did an good job in NY State.

The Dems have to stop this stupidity, by keep digging their own grave. Bring the barf buckets.

I think Al Frankin got the rawest deal. Cuomo(i guess I'm superficial/juvenile) reminds me of a bulldog, he's probably not getting a lot of females pursuing him. Nope, I've got no expertise in these topics.

JFK was nailing babes on a regular basis.

These are human things/drives...we all get it. Does it affect the ability of a person to lead, guide, or innovate?

Trump is like a predator. A different intent, an ugly type of relationship.

It's probably not popular to say this but women can play a role in these incidents too but we rarely hold them accountable?

These guys that fool around, it ought to be between them, their spouses, and any 3rd party IMO. Unless they're full-blown sicko perverts.

The Repugs are supposed to be the puritanical, religious, upstanding people, but too often their priests, pastors, boy scout leaders, turn out to be predatory pervs... They don't seem to care too much about it. Yet they prosecuted Clinton like he had supported a traitorous insurrection, plotted a coup, and had an affair with a skanky porn actress. (Trump fell in love with an overweight Korean dictator too)

Dems are much quicker to eat their own. I kinda don't get the calculation here.

Short for eat one's own kind or similar, as certain living organisms do. r

    Verb[edit]

eat one's own (third-person singular simple present eats one's own, present participle eating one's own, simple past ate one's own, past participle eaten one's own)

To turn on and attack members of one's own group or clique.

    Jason:

I agree that Al Franken bot a raw deal. When he resigned on January 2, 2018, he was essentially a "sacrificial lamb".

You may remember that pedophile Roy Moore from Alabama was running for office (with Trump's support) in late 2017. In November 2017, during his special election campaign for U.S. Senate, several public allegations of sexual misconduct were made against Moore. Three women stated that he had sexually assaulted them when they were at the respective ages of 14, 16 and 28. Moore acknowledged that he may have approached and dated teenagers while he was in his 30s, but denied that any of the girls were underage or that he had sexually assaulted anyone. President Donald Trump endorsed Moore a week before the election, after which some Republicans withdrew their opposition to Moore. Democrat Doug Jones won the election, becoming the first Democrat since 1992 to win a U.S. Senate seat in Alabama.

By resigning, Franken made it possible for Democrat Doug Jones to defeat Roy Moore, thereby avoiding the inevitable "what aboutism" that the Republicans would be likely to use against him.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Moore

Both Kennedy and Bill Clinton were guilty of sexual improprieties, but managed to stay in office. If you've read "The House of Kennedy", but James Patterson, ALL of the Kennedy men cheated on their spouses. Joe Kennedy Sr. once offered Jackie $1 million if she stayed married to Jack.

Andrew Cuomo is not the first New York governor to be forced from office

    https://www.npr.org/2021/08/10/972725388/new-york-governor-andrew-cuomo-resigns-amid-sexual-harassment-claims

Cuomo will be replaced by Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, who will be the FIRST female governor of New York.

William Sulzer is the first, and only, New York governor to be impeached and convicted. He was in office from January 1 to October 17, 2013. The early part of the 20th century is when Tammany Hall controlled things, so there are few other guys who SHOULD have been tossed from office.

Yah I remember Moore. When I was down south I ran into a handful that had 2 wives, 1 legit and the other younger and pg. Both we're taken care of. Wasn't any of my biz so I stayed away. Some Mormons are like that too.

You know Trump was always skanking out..heh heh. He liked them east block women, except Maples. Weird damn planet.

All frankin did was pose for a comedy picture..bamm.. crucified.

I am waiting for the day Trump is held accountable for sexually assaulting as many as 47 women, I am not a patient person, sooooo.

    I won't hold my breath.

Yes, here it is always different standards and punishment; it depends who you are and how much money you got or have an big mouth. Francken did nothing to harm women, neither did Cuomo. But yeah Trump screwed everything in sight and got rewarded for it. Sorry this country is super corrupt and the good guys are the dupe of it. Shaking my old head in disgust.
