We have all seen the video where Officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on George Floyd's neck until he was dead, never once checking on his health, and to this day Officer Chauvin has not taken any responsibly for his death.

I am speculating that the attorneys for Chauvin have begged for a manslaughter plea deal, and prosecutors have not talked about any possible deal short of second degree murder.

We can assume that Officer Chauvin objective was not murder George Floyd while cameras were rolling and at least a dozen people stood there watching, but it is also clear Chauvin did not give a fuck if George Floyd died or might be seriously injured. Chauvin looks like he pinning down an animal, and has no concern about life of that animal. No joke, he looks like he could light a cigarette while he choking Floyd to death, not because that was his objective, but because he had zero concern about Floyd and it never once occurred to Chauvin that he might be harming Floyd, let alone killing him.

We all hope Chauvin testifies so he can speak to what he was thinking as he murdered George Floyd. No doubt in his mind, everything he was doing was right out of the Police procedure manual of how to deal with Black people, thus he was just doing exactly as he done 100s of time before.

It only takes one juror to force a hung jury. Hope that doesn't happen. I listened to some of the prosecution testimony today. Sounds compelling, but one never knows. As some Trump supporters have shown, the truth doesn't matter.

The odds are in Chauvin favor of getting a hung jury because he is police officer.

A hung jury might be the defense team's objective because certainly they know a full acquittal is unlikely to ever happen no matter how many times they re-try the case. If it is a hung jury, then tried again with another hung jury, its very likely outcome will be plea deal to a significantly lesser charge, such as manslaughter with a max sentence agreement of 1 year in jail, otherwise the defense team will likely say, "We'll make this the trial of the century because we will keep retrying this case for the next 50 years with with an endless series of hung juries; you'll never find 12 people on the same jury that will convict a white police officer murdering a black man with a criminal record, there will always be at least 1 h0ld out who thinks it was justified"

Yesterday his girlfriend testified. She advised that Floyd was working as a security guard at the Salvation Army when they met. He listened to her talk about her problems and he asked her if he wanted him to pray with her.

Employed and religious. I am sure those are factors that they didn't want brought up.

Floyd has a criminal history so wait until it is the defense turn where they will expose and magnify every misstep of his life. What will be key is if Floyd has any past resisting arrests charges and the defense will bring other officers to testify about their dealing with Floyd. Good chance the defense team will portray Floyd and out of control BLACK man high on drugs who required a 9 minute choke hold to prevent him from a rampage. They will claim mace, tasers, and other non lethal force wouldn't have worked on him, so the officers didn't even try; "For god sakes, he was a black man, lethal force is always required".

Or how about this for a defense argument: "If officer Chauvin wanted to kill him, he would have pulled out his gun and shot him several times; Officer Chauvin wouldn't have wasted 9 minutes to choke him to death. That makes no sense"

Does it really matter? Do people think this case makes any difference of the way the "racists" treat people here? History have shown so many cases which are similar and nothing really changed, but got only worse over time. Hitler tried "ethnic" cleansing, it did not work, neither it does here via different methods. So this country will muddle on, because real change will likely not come, due to an total partisan culture and only two opposite parties who refuse to find compromise. The American "culture" does not exist, their is an "no" solid culture here because there is no "direction" in which way this country wants to move forward. Four years one party in power then the other in total opposite ways etc. It is here an "yo yo" culture.

In the short term, probably no noticeable difference, but in long term every inch forward makes a difference. Its likely to take 100s of years, if not 1000s, for racism to disappear from the human race. There might even come a day where scientists find a DNA sequence in humans that represents racism, which can't be found in any other living being.

The larger reality is that we all have racist perceptions that interfere with our ability to see people as individuals.
