On the Dutch news paper I saw exactly who were the "dead" people all of them were fanatic Trumpers. There was one police man who happened to be an Trumper who got killed by being hit with an fire extinguisher.

All of it shows that also the police is infiltrated with Trump supporters since the killing of George Floyd.

Thus no wonder that the Capitol police did nothing to stop their "buddies". Anyway Trump should be dragged into court as an accomplish in murder. (as well being responsible for plenty of "covid" death)

A dead officer is horrible because it was pointless and unnecessary. The proper tag should be on our president. His foolish games cost lives. In his 4 years his mismanagement has our Covid numbers as well as other important issues in disarray. He must go promptly.

Remember when he was campaigning 4+ years ago and he promised better healthcare at lower costs within 2 weeks..... Maybe in his last days..... Nah...

But are his misdeeds, lies, and his insurrection enough to disenfranchise republican voters, and enough to put the GOP in it's proper place?

People should be aware that it's never too late to become a democrat, but we only want people who practice peaceful political dissent!

A resident of Alabama was also charged in connection with the pipe bomb found on the south side of the Capitol building. Eleven Molotov cocktails and military-style weapon were found in his pickup truck, officials said.

Just because you've left the DC region you can still expect a knock on the door if we find out you were part of the criminal activity at the Capitol," said Steven D'Antuono, assistant director in charge of the FBI's Washington field office.

Rest assured, when a cop is killed, authorities will continue the search for the person responsible.

There is much more which has to be investigated. For instance who put the wooden beam "gallows" up with an "noose" hanging from it? ( how could something like that being built without scrutiny?) Furthermore who was the guy with bundles of "zip ties". Someone disclosed that it was the intention to tie up all Senators and Pence as well Pelosi, and then "hang" Pence on the "gallows" and kill Pelosi.

Where is the FBI to investigate all of this?

While Trump is responsible for his words and actions, those who rioted and engaged in insurrection are responsible for their actions as well.

Pointing the finger at Trump does nothing. Trump actually did the country a favor by tearing the mask off of the country and exposing its deeply ingrained illness.

There is no "United" States. There has only been the "United" States on a handful of occasions. The rise of Trumpism is merely the latest variant of a disease that has its roots deep in history. It goes back before the founding and, indeed, to the so-called European civilization. The difference is that Europe actually has tried to learn from its mistakes.

This country cannot even be bothered to try.

Montesquieu once wrote that democracy/republics cannot work on large, geographic scale states. Madison sought to prove him wrong. Imo, he failed. The factions that he feared have been here all of the time. Today they are more rampant than ever.

A rioter filmed wearing military gear and carrying zip-tie handcuffs on the Senate floor has been identified as a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel.

Larry Rendall Brock, Jr., an Air Force Academy graduate and combat veteran from Texas, was seen in photos and videos roaming around the Capitol and even breaking into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office suite along with other pro-Trump demonstrators, the New Yorker reported Friday.

He confirmed to the outlet that he was the man in photos and videos.

Brock had been employed with Hillwood Airways, a private aviation company in Fort Worth. The company told The Dallas Morning News on Saturday that the Air Force veteran has been fired.

Another Air Force veteran, Ashli Babbitt, was shot and killed at the capitol on Wednesday. The Washington Post chronicles her descent into the madness of Trump.

The whole 1/6 storming of the capitol was bad, very bad, but it failed and it failed miserably and quickly.

My assessment is was a disorganized coup attempt by mostly of fringe paramilitary crazies who probably have been fuckups their entire lives. Come-on now, just look at who they deem as their Supreme leader of their movement to over throw the government: Donald Trump.

If it weren't real, it would be a comical story line to a movie or book:

A bunch of losers, fuckups, and mentally unstable people decided to storm the capitol truly believing the perfect moment has arrived to over throw the most powerful govement in the world. The man who inspires them is a narcissistic sociopath pathological liar that does not give a shit about anyone of them, or anyone else on the planet, and just wants to save his own ass and stay in power.

With Donald Trump at the top the coup it was doomed to fail as it did. Throughout his entire life everything Trump touches become worses, and then even worse. Trump inspires crazy people to be more crazy (ie Rudy Giuliani, Michael Flynn, Roger Stone, etc). He does not inspire hardcore terrorists with very serious and devastating plans. What we saw was a coup attempt by the gang-who-couldn't-shoot-straight.

One big take away, if it had been an event on par with 911, it would have been far far worse, far far better planned and executed. Real hardcore American based terrorists would have stormed the capitol with automatic weapons, been inside senate chamber before any congressmen had a chance to escape, detonated several bombs in key locations, and made sure that they killed all political leaders they could track down in congress so that it would not be possible to ratify the electoral votes.... Something like that would have happened if it were planned and executed by professional American terrorists that are serious like those who were involved in 911. I think we got lucky, this time. Next time it won't be a bunch of fuckups led by Trump.

However, Donald Trump has been a slow rolling 911 event for the past 4 years, and just as deadly. Donald Trump harms and kills through an endless series of mostly paper cuts, one after another after another. Its akin to bleeding to death one drop of blood at a time.

wwjd, excellent story; compliments! Yes it shows that this country can't even do an "coup" right. Indeed if you look at the "virus" thing, it is also done the "chaos" way. Nothing is "coherent" or well planned here. If they train the "army" the same way, then I fear we will have to learn the Russian or Chinese language in no time.

Yes this country has become "number one" in how to create "chaos"; be proud about that.

Well, maybe they were a mostly disorganized bunch of rag tag people, but they proved the capital could be breached, and it sent shockwaves to lawmakers and their aides scrambling for cover in fear for their lives. I don't know what that's like, but I can just imagine being scared out of your wits wondering if help was coming to rescue me or not?

With the inauguration just days away, I would be screening people who are national guard members and even people associated with law enforcement agencies. I would be very fearful of what could happen next. Some of the people who were involved in that riot were ex-military members, something to be fearful of because ex military people know something about government procedures and actions, and can be used against peace-keeping forces. With all the military type attire available, an ordinary citizen can dress in military garb and blend in with guard troops. Troubling, to say the least.

According to one estimate, there are some three hundred different militia groups, with perhaps as many as fifteen thousand to twenty-thousand well-armed and often military-trained members, active in every state of the union.

If I were the designers of the inauguration stage, I would make sure that the part which faces the mall have bullet proof glass so that anyone who might try to snipe a shot at someone on stage will not penetrate to injure or kill.

I also wouldn't allow people to assemble in the mall either.
