I hereby like to wish all the members an "healthy" and "happy" New Year; keep up the writing and opinions; get all these idiotic political things of your mind and do all your best to not end up in the hospital. Political speaking I wish Biden all his strenght to overcome the Trump Party's brainless behavior. For the rest just keep breathing and enjoy life to the fullest.

    All the best, Dutch

I'm happy these holidays are over; let's hope that the people here come to their senses and support Biden in his endeavor to get rid of the "virus". I only hope that the "obstruction" of the Trump Party does not limit the "goals" of Biden. If so then it is time that this country gets an "backbone" and revise our laws in order to make this an "progressive" well run country. However right now I don't have the impression that the idiots in the Trump party are willing to get "normal"; so I hope that Biden will improve our "law" system, so we don't get again people like Trump and others to "wreck" Democracy as was the case of the last 4 years.

Every year that I can remember, we all listened to "Auld Lang Syne on New Year's Eve. From1939 until his death in 1977, Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians performed the song, which is first performed by Robert Burns in 1788. The original version was performed in the Scots language.

LOTS of people have performed the song since Robert Burns first performed it One of my favorite versions was done by the acapella group Pentatonix:

Yes a happy new year to everyone, but maybe the happiness will not materialize until well into the spring when people get vaccinated and out of their isolation. As Biden said, it will get worse before it gets better. My wife and I are hopeful that we can get vaccinated by May so we can hit the road again, or perhaps airplanes again, and also enjoy a meal and drinks in a restaurant. My wet dream for 2021 is to see Trump indicted and convicted.

I don't think your wet dream is too far off. There are multiple investigations into Trump right now (SDNY has 2) , and there is also one pending in Scotland. On top of all that, his loans are going to be a large problem for him within the next two years.

If you've read about the New Year's party at Mar-A-Lago, you would just shake your head, since it was a disaster.

    https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2021/1/1/2005338/-New-Year-s-Eve-Nightmare-at-Mar-a-Lago?detail=emaildkre

The Tampa Bay Times reported that the packed New Year’s Eve parties at Mar-a-Lago and elsewhere across Florida came on the same day as the state broke its coronavirus caseload record with more than 17,000 cases added on that day.

The City of St. Petersburg advised residents on Twitter that: “Celebrating NYE virtually or with members of your own household (who are consistently taking measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19) poses the lowest risk for spread.”

So what about the 500 guests who showed up for New Year’s Eve at the Donald J. Trump Ballroom. There was no social distancing with guests seated 10 per table. Hardly any guests wore masks as they shouted and sang along with the entertainers.

It’s altogether possible that the Nightmare at Mar-a-Lago might turn into another Trump-sponsored superspreader event. That wouldn’t be a first for Mar-a-Lago — at the start of the pandemic a maskless birthday party for Guilfoyle in the same ballroom turned out to be a spreading event.

I saw on the news headline that 11 more Republicans have joined the "stunt" to delay the certification of the election results. I suppose this is why Trump came back early from Mar-a-Lago to coerce and threaten Republican Representatives and Senators to go along with the scheme to object to the electors from key states posting their state's votes. Of course it will fail, but the more he can get to go along, the more it looks legitimate to his rabid supporters who continue to believe the "big lie".

And you both think all of this is normal and should be done after "all" elections; The whole world is looking in total amazement at this country and don't believe their eyes. Sorry this is child's play for grown-ups; only in America! Is there no shame about all the unending corruption here and the "total circus" our government has become?

Even if the 12 fail, then still this country will look like an "has been" and stays an undeveloped 3rd world country. Even the distribution of "vaccine" is becoming an total "chaos".

The damage has been done and also Biden can't reverse this craziness even if he wants to. The Trump Party is still alive and kicking up their tantrums; Trump will make sure of that. I just wonder what 2023 will look like.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles authorities busted at least 13 massive New Year’s Eve parties across the city and county Thursday night, scattering thousands of people and arresting 90 party-goers, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The parties were violating a stay-at-home order covering all of Southern California.
