If I see the awful long lines of cars lining up at the "food-banks' hand -outs. I wonder what is going on.

You can't tell me that all these people in shiny mostly "new" looking cars are hungry and asking for food for 9 days or more standing in line for hours burning plenty of dollars of fuel.

Also I'm surprised that they did not ask for "information" related to income and "tax returns" as well "savings" or "rent or own as well the size of their families. I can accept hand outs to the "really poor" but not put boxes full of stuff in their cars without checking if they are indeed "poor". My feeling is that it shows an "wrong" picture about who is poor in this country..

Well maybe. We both have seen extreme poverty in the third world countries we have visited. And these are countries that have sources of income...oil reserves or other natural resources that could otherwise sustain a nation. Venezuela did all right for itself before oil was discovered. It has enormous tourist and agricultural potential. But when I lived there, I saw extremely wealthy Venezuelans flaunting their wealth and extremely poor people begging on street corners. This was under Chavez.

Still if certain Americans are accustomed to a standard of living, and that is suddenly taken away from them, then yes running short of food is suddenly at the top of their fears. So I can understand their fears...maybe they have a week's supply or more of food at home, but without the security of a job, they will take every opportunity to stock up as the pandemic situation worsens. I cannot blame them. It is human nature, much the same as you and I running out to stock up on toilet paper.

Get real man. You're sounding or acting just like those people who video taped black people who said they were going to vote for Obama because he was going to give them free cell phones and free phone service. People were also saying that people were using government funds for steak and lobster, that may be true because ebt doesn't discriminate and tell people to eat pork and beans only. Most people who drive cars and wait in lines have enough sense to turn their engines off until the wait line advances. Not everyone is a stupid as you think they are.

"Q: Has the Obama administration started a program to use "taxpayer money" to give free cell phones to welfare recipients?

A: No. Low-income households have been eligible for discounted telephone service for more than a decade. But the program is funded by telecom companies, not by taxes, and the president has nothing to do with it."

Just don't go here man, you're smarter than this, use your head.

First of all, 1/4 of Americans are either unemployed or under-employed. e.g., my wife's work hours were cut from 32 a week to around 12-13 a week, she qualifies for UE Insurance, around $85-90 a week, if it were not for my SS checks on the 3rd. of every month, we wouldn't be able to pay rent and utilities and just be able to buy food, not to mention we owe $4000 in medical bills too.

What do you want to do? Card everybody to see if they meet your poorness criteria? gimme' a break.

Think about where you want to go here.... People before the pandemic were doing okay, some bought new cars, some improved their lives-living better, some did not. If you're in debt with a car, bought a home, and might have children, and are not working, you are probably in trouble financially. And in need of a helping hand.

We should be thanking people for providing such programs to feed & help Americans, they're doing a hell of a lot more than republicans and Trump is doing right now.

I asked for comments and got those; I appreciate those comments. Sure you both are right but sorry to say there are bad apples in between. In any "normal" country they don't just "hand out, but check as well if they are qualified to receive these "handouts". I could stand in line with my Ferrari and still get food for 9 days? Just an question, that's all. Not a big deal I asked for comments. and got it.
