Arizona, What matters more; "one" officer killed because he would be allowed to have the guts, or 21 people. If you take the job as police then you know the risks of the job. All the B.S. surrounding this drama, makes things even worse.

Also if this country refuses to not take these types of guns from the streets and "ban" these gut grinding tools, then something is drastically wrong in this country right now. In the past we stormed Normandy and lost hundreds of lives, but now everywhere the "guts" has been "evaporated" . This country, thanks to our "hide and seek" attitude we can't even make an "honest" report about what happened in Uvalde. The bureaucratic attitude is winning from "common sense" in just about everything, because our "laws" never catch-ed up to the times we live in. Just looking at our "gun" laws, which are an total joke. Just look at the developments in weapons; in the future you may get "laser" guns, so do we let then also an 18 year old kid kill an whole neighborhood? Sorry this country is asking for it. Stupidity reigns.

Heather's letter of last night pointed out that the Republicans in Texas are batshit crazy:

And, as if in confirmation, delegates to a convention of the Texas Republican Party today approved platform planks rejecting “the certified results of the 2020 Presidential election, and [holding] that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States”; requiring students “to learn about the dignity of the preborn human,” including that life begins at fertilization; treating homosexuality as “an abnormal lifestyle choice”; locking the number of Supreme Court justices at 9; getting rid of the constitutional power to levy income taxes; abolishing the Federal Reserve; rejecting the Equal Rights Amendment; returning Christianity to schools and government; ending all gun safety measures; abolishing the Department of Education; arming teachers; requiring colleges to teach “free-market liberty principles”; defending capital punishment; dictating the ways in which the events at the Alamo are remembered; protecting Confederate monuments; ending gay marriage; withdrawing from the United Nations and the World Health Organization; and calling for a vote “for the people of Texas to determine whether or not the State of Texas should reassert its status as an independent nation.”

Yes, that is what you get if you let the "weeds" grow unlimited in your yard. Sorry but I wrote many times that this country is totally out of control. If this continues then I'm of the opinion that this country is an lost cause. China and Russia will be very happy with that for sure. It does not help to say that they are "batshit crazy" if no one does something about it.

Looking at the list they want as you described it, then I'm convinced that certainly this State will drown in the "swamp" they themselves created. Things are going exactly the "Hitler way" in which one "sole" party dictates the whole country.

Forget "Christianity" it will only dig the "hole" deeper, because nothing up there is going to save their asses.

The Republican Party may as well change their name into the "Werhmacht". They've never learned anything from "history" of the world. Amen

I'm afraid lots of other GOP States will follow this example. There is no longer any"unity" in this country; the political landscape is littered with corpses. The media makes sure that the Ukraine is no longer in the news , but the idiots in Texas are as well Florida with DeSantis and his craziness. Today there will be another session of the January 6th committee. I hope something substantial will come out of it, but I'm afraid that that the GOP will only get more "brutal" and "stubborn" in their tiny "brains". All together the future shows that things won't improve unless the "midterms" prove otherwise.

Related to the January 6th committee, they showed on TV that only 25% of Republicans are looking at these sessions, So in other words 75% stick to their "indoctrinated" views. Also looking at the "mid-term elections, it is clear that still plenty of "Trump" idiots stick to their dumb ass "past" leader and going to elect again idiots like DeSantis and others to important positions.

The "churches" certainly" will interfere and will push the ban on abortions via the GOP , so they retain the "power" and leverage over the people. During the "hearings" it was clear that certain witness "figures" would still vote for Trump, because of their "religious" fanaticism. Sick country for sure. It looks here like Afghanistan, but then with "Christians" instead of Muslims.

Texans want to secede. GOOD. Next time they get a hurricane, and oil well blowing up, or some other disaster, they can fund their own rescues and not ask uncle Sam for one dime.

So, I will ask the question…

Is it time to break up the U.S.?

Lonely; the problem is that the name of this country then has to change; it is no longer The "UNITED" States, the new name should then be the "Arrogant B.S. States" . Just look at the "disaster" Trump created in the Supreme Court. Women no longer are in charge of their own body, because of a few total idiots injected by Trump.

Sorry to say, it is already broken "up" due to total "incompetence" in"electing" brainless people here for such important positions. But yeah all of this is an self inflicted wound by not having an proper up to date "base law"and only an"two" party system miles apart in their "ways". I guess the lack of "education" and "church" meddling is the cause. As soon as "religion" is injected into "governing" then we get another Afghanistan here. Governing is an "worldly" task and your body is yours on this planet; it does not belong to the church/government or other never seen "ghosts". Amen
