Just the way Trump works; anyone who's against him has to disappear; even if they tell the truth.

Vindman Ends Military Career, Cites White House 'Retaliation'

NEWS Now Newser — Newser Editors

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman is calling it quits on his 21-year military career, and his lawyer says it's because Vindman believe his future in the US Army "will forever be limited" due to political retaliation at the hands of President Trump and his allies.

Vindman says he found himself in the crosshairs after acting as a key witness in President Trump's impeachment inquiry in November, with his lawyer saying he has endured a "campaign of bullying, intimidation, and retaliation" since, per CNN.

Vindman, who had listened in on the July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, was in February escorted out of the White House complex, having been removed as director for European affairs on the National Security Council.

The Hill reports that after the announcement, Vindman tweeted an image showing him at his laptop wearing civilian clothes. He wrote, "Today I officially requested retirement from the US Army, an organization I love. My family and I look forward to the next chapter of our lives."

The Washington Post in June reported Vindman's name was on a list of hundreds of officers chosen to be promoted to full colonel in 2020.

It explained Army and Pentagon leaders sign off on the list, and that government sources were worried the White House could have Vindman struck from that list, though Secretary of Defense Mark Esper has previously said the Pentagon protects service members from retribution.

His lawyer spoke cryptically on the subject, saying "The President of the United States attempted to force LTC Vindman to choose ... Between protecting his promotion or the promotion of his fellow soldiers."

Well yes, this is what Trump does to anyone who crosses him. That's why his niece, Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist, diagnoses him as having antisocial personality behavior...a sociopath. He has no conscience.

Just one question: where are the Democrats? Dead quiet; hypocrites for sure. They only voice their dis-satisfaction,but nothing else. They should have prevented all of this and should have been aware of what Trump would do.

Weaklings for sure; this is why the "impeachment" was an total "joke" because by now they should have known how Trump works as the "mafia" does. Bribe, bribe, bribe and threaten that is the Republicans (read Trump "cult") motto.

Congratulations America you'v promoted Trump to the new Hitler in this country

How would democrats go about preventing this when you have a R president and the senate has a R majority? Sure, D's have a house majority, but we saw how that went during stupid's impeachment! The senate repuglicans fucked over this country, big time.

Vindman posted a good article in The Atlantic this morning. He confirms the fact that Trump is a useful idiot to Putin.

" But do you think Russia is blackmailing Trump? “They may or may not have dirt on him, but they don’t have to use it,” he says. “They have more effective and less risky ways to employ him. He has aspirations to be the kind of leader that Putin is, and so he admires him. He likes authoritarian strongmen who act with impunity, without checks and balances. So he’ll try to please Putin.”

Vindman continues, “In the Army we call this ‘free chicken,’ something you don’t have to work for—it just comes to you. This is what the Russians have in Trump: free chicken.”

How many are there who are like Vindman? I guess very few in the present government. The "system" here did allow all the shit we are in and also does not allow us to get out of it. It is easy to elect an corrupt money hungry idiot, but it seems impossible to remove him due to our "weak" laws and inbred corruption in the "system".

Indeed we need more Vindman's , but the system won't allow such. This country has become "lawless"; just have an large indoor rally without masks or right distance in an State which only allows 50 people in one place and just act like you are above the law and have a 1000 people or more braking every rule of such State. The consequences will certainly lead to more death. Actually Trump is an murderer. He already admitted to have Khashoggi killed to help him to get an arms deal of which he could enrich himself via the kickbacks. But yeah this country seems to like all of this and closes its eyes. Bring the barf buckets please.

" President Trump on Sunday shrugged off the brutal dismembering of Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist, just days after a United Nations report described how a team of Saudi assassins called Mr. Khashoggi a “sacrificial animal” before his murder.

The U.N. report urged an F.B.I. investigation into the slaying. But in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Mr. Trump said the episode had already been thoroughly investigated. He said the Middle East is “a vicious, hostile place” and noted that Saudi Arabia is an important trading partner with the United States.

I only say they spend $400 to $450 billion over a period of time, all money, all jobs, buying equipment,” the president told Chuck Todd, the show’s moderator. “I’m not like a fool that says, ‘We don’t want to do business with them.’ And by the way, if they don’t do business with us, you know what they do? They’ll do business with the Russians or with the Chinese.”

Yes,it is clear there is an "cover up"; the FBI should get of their ass and "really" investigate this. But yeah as Trump says it has been "investigated" which is an huge lie, because the FBI is now an "loyal" Trump club, because Trump made sure that they support him by injecting "loyalists in this organization.
