Is Biden the right candidate?

I just wonder if Biden will be an "solid" candidate. Of course I rather have him than Trump. However there must be better candidates than him. Sorry to say, Biden still lives in the past and has some "issues" as well can't express himself well and makes lots of mistakes this early in the game.

Also ( depending on who he selects as V.P.) I don't see that he's the person who will make sure that he can start with an clean slate, due to that the GOP will fight dirty all the way and he will absolutely gets nothing done. I'm not convinced that the Senate all of a sudden becomes an fully Democrat unit. Neither that all the "loyal" Trump appointee's disappear from the stage. May be Biden can manage to get one "term" and then end up in the "loony" house.

    Dutch:

I added a comment yesterday on the thread with the "2020 election" title.

I'm of the opinion that the Democrats are going to retain control of the House, and possibly even gain seats. I also think that the Senate will become Democrat majority.

As for Trump himself, Heather Cox mentioned yesterday that Trump himself is in serious trouble:

" More important is that this is an important signal of how vulnerable his team is feeling as we get closer to the 2020 election. Trump has counted on increasing his religious support to offset his falling popularity with suburban women. But two recent surveys have found that Trump’s popularity with white evangelicals and white Catholics has fallen by more than ten percentage points in the last month.

Meanwhile, another story notes that more than half the Twitter accounts calling for a reopening of the American economy are bots. Yet another notes that as we approach 100,000 dead of Covid-19, experts warn that the death toll is actually significantly higher, as people dying at home or in nursing homes are not tested, and as early deaths were misidentified as either influenza or pneumonia.

You have choices. A or B. Decide what's best for the country and yourself. It's pretty clear and simple to me.

Biden is a reasonably good choice at this point in time. He is a good choice because he does appeal to the Trump's base for the same reasons they like Trump, so Biden is likely to flip millions of voters who voted for Trump in 2016, such as independent voters, Democratic voters who did not like Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sander voters.

As one simple example, Biden's gaffs. Trump voters loves that Trump says dumb ass things. Trump is like that drunk the local pub that constantly saying stupid things and telling biggest fish\hunting stories. "Hey, last night, Trump was telling everyone he almost caught the Noch Ness Monster last weekend while playing golf...hahaha". Half the people know its total BS, but the other half think it could be true, but have their doubts.... Those voters like Biden for the same reasons.

Biden is likely win several states that Hillary Clinton lost, more than enough to win. The odds are very good that Biden not only will win most states by a clear margin, he will get millions more votes than Hillary Clinton. Trump could easily get 5-10 million less votes than he did in 2016. With a 5-15 million vote margin, it will be a clear win by Biden.

Yes, Trump has made it very black and white. Democrats could nominate just about anybody, and it would not change anybody's mind. You might say the outcome of the election already has been decided, but we just won't find out the results until Nov 3rd, 2020.

Don't forget that also on this site it was said that Hillary would win by an landslide. So I would be a bit more careful about predictions. The "electoral college" is still there and Biden may still loose by having 5 million votes more. That is how this country works. Here in FL they had an large parade with boats (not the cheapy one's) in Naples and Ft. Myers with huge Trump flags on all of them. My bet is that the Trump fanatics have become even more fanatic than ever; they are also the ones without "masks" in the stores. Also Trumps "fund raising" thanks to the "rich" is millions more than Biden. Biden made the mistake by stating on the news that he is going to raise taxes on anyone who earns more than 400K. Kind of stupid to start with that in this early phase.

So we wait and see, but our corrupt Trump will find ways to "corrupt" the elections all the way. So I rather wait and see before getting way to optimistic. Yes I hope that an Democrat wins, who hopefully "cleans out" the Trump party from governing; but if McConnell stays, they will be "dead" in the water and get nothing done.

Joe !!!! Get out of your basement. Walk in the yard or down the sidewalk with a mask. A blend of wisdom and strength. The 38% cult voters are telling everyone that you're nervous and hiding. Not good enough to have a daily interviews or short chats with a news anchor. Your team should be supplying information for you to further educate those looking to you for leadership. Be opportunistic and communicate effectively. Show leadership Joe because this opportunity is rare. Make it happen.

T.J.wishful thinking; I've seen one interview on TV and was not impressed at all; he stated quite a few stupid things.

I've got the idea that the Dem's only think about an "win" even if Pipo the Clown would run, but don't think about how to clear up the "joint" from all the "loyal" Trump positions in the government and can find "qualified" trained experienced people to re-fill those positions. It may take years and years to get things back to "normal". I bet if the guy wins he would not even know where to start the "clean-up" (or puts his head in the sand and copy's Trump and watches FOX News and goes golfing). Ha ha.

    Everybody got it wrong.
Those who voted for Trump didn't think he would win.
The republican party didn't think he would win.
Trump didn't think he would win.

It was more a perfect storm than anything else. Trump is not the new future of the country, he is an outlier, he is a freak in politics. Once he is out of power, he will leave the Republican party with a big black hole filled with nothing by trump's destruction. Trump is 100% cancer, and he is destroying the republican party every single day. There is nothing good about him. Trump is not a republican, he hijacked the Republican party because the Republican party let him. Trump is 100% a fuckup, and everything he does is a fuckup. He hires fuckups, who then proceed fuckup things up more. That is all Trump does, he fucks things up as much as he possibility can. That is it, that is all he does, and that is all he ever will be able to do. That is Trump #1 skill, and that is the only thing he is good at.

One thing you are right about is that Trump is unlikely to go easily or quietly. Once he looses the election he will demand some kind "do-over" by declaring the election corrupt. One thing that Trump has taught the republican party: "Don't bother to win a clean fight, always fight by playing dirty" Democrats are likely to win a clean and fair election. Republicans are likely to win if the election is dirty and unfair. Democrats always loose when trying to play by Republican rules, because rule #1 is have "fair fight" rules, but only expect democrats to follow them.

Yes you are right, that is the way it works, because we actually are as bad as any S.American country. But we are great at faking that we have laws for the rich and powerful who can bribe as they like. Indeed he will not agree with the outcome if it is Biden who wins and of course starts an lawsuit with the help of all the "crooks" he appointed. Remember the "hanging shads" on the election forms in FL. ?

I've got to run again, to get my barf bucket!

On the news there was mentioned that there is an dispute with Trump about the GOP convention which was planned to be held near the end of August in N.Carolina. The States Governor does not want to "clear" an total "open" society, since the number of "virus" cases is increased by an large margin; but Trump demands to have it fully open. So let the fun begin about preparing for the elections. As I've said before, the "chaos" will only increase, as well the number of "deaths" because of the "virus", which is not party bound.
