The question: Why did Micheal Flynn fire his defense team and change his strategy?
If I were writing a fictional novel based on Trump and all the real life people around him, the story would go something like this:
A few weeks after William Barr officially becomes AG, he arranges a private meeting between himself and Micheal Flynn where Barr indirectly suggests to Flynn that it would be in Flynn's best interest to fire his entire defense team and hire team of attorneys that Barr recommends. Barr then tells Flynn that the new team will recommend that Flynn revoke his plea and want a trial. Barr hints that if Flynn follows that this new strategy, Barr will handling everything so that Flynn never spends even 1 minute in jail. Barr assures Flynn that both Trump and "Their mutual Russian associates" are already on board with the plan.
Flynn follows Bar's advice and fires his defense team. After a few months Barr drops all charges. Flynn is legally free with a 100% clean record. However, two weeks later Flynn suddenly disappears after having lunch with two Russian businessmen, never to be seen or heard from again.
