Michigan or bust. Nate Silver was on George Stephenapolus (sp?) This morning and he said the momentum that Joe Biden has along with the endorsements paints a discouraging picture for Mr. Sanders. He suggested that Michigan was key for Bernie to stay vital in the race. It's thought to be close. The Governor and Lt. Governor have endorsed Mr. Biden. Bernie is advising he has the endorsement of Jesse Jackson. I initially was unaware that he was still alive since I don't think I have heard his name in the last 30 years.

President Trump advised his team was getting ready to compete against Mr. Sanders as he was doing well initially. Then said they're changing their focus now. He then was complimentary towards Bernie. Crazy how he's constantly plotting.

It is just an question of time; neither Bernie or Biden ( to my knowledge) have any idea in what mess this country actually is.

They will get the shock of their lives once in the W.H.; Trump will make sure that the mess only will be even bigger than it is right now; the appointment of Meadows will certainly make it even bigger. Especially "internationally" speaking Meadows has no clue about trade or relationships with the rest of the world; it is an typical "island" inhabitant.

My personal opinion is that we need a lot more than Bernie or Biden to save the ship and its passengers. Amen

AOC is a huge force in Democratic politics. I follow her on Facebook and agree with 85% of what she says. She's been a strong active supporter of Mr. Sanders doing campaign events and putting out a strong consistent message. I just read that she's distancing herself from his campaign because she's not happy with some recent developments. That could be a huge factor.

I don't like the negative commercials of Bernie. An assemblage of everything positive that Obama ever said in what appears to be almost an endorsement. A set of negative film clips of Biden that paints a negative view. I am sure he thinks he is merely competing aggressively but to me it's a negative approach that doesn't help the party. I guess his party is the Independent party so trashing a Democrat is par for the course. I don't like it and I am a voter approaching a primary in what is probably a swing state.

He won in California which was some desperately needed oxygen for his team. The picture is altered and updated hourly. He is thinking about winning at all costs. There's a much bigger picture and he needs better choices. The AOC thing is a huge factor worthy for further attention.

    Stay tuned.

I think we need a new Bernie thread but I was not going to start one this morning.

AOC as most "junior" folks here refuse to see the big picture related to governing this country. Bernie is an idiot who has the same mentality as lots of Trump's craziness; neither him or Biden is the person we need to "normalize" this country. As a matter of fact we need thousands of the Kathy Porter types who do their home work and are able to convince people what is right and what is wrong. AOC is still learning but her brains are not yet developed enough to see the "big" picture; you get such only be lots of experience "outside" this country. Sorry she's got way to much wrong info via the artificial hype generated by the "island' mentality here.

What Bernie wants can never be achieved and he knows it; so why continue on this path? The "middle of the road" looks to me the only way you can get things done in this country. Biden tries this but does not know how, because he never was an "leader" but only an follower. Amen

Our choices are our choices. Two choices now and two in less than 8 months.

There's nothing middle of the road about the political right's reactionary agenda. And I'm not convinced that moderate Democrats are better than liberals or leftists like Bernie Sanders at beating conservative Republicans. Most of the loses at state level have been Blue Dog and centrist Democrats to right wingers. The Right understands power and they keep winning and pulling in moderates, independents, and swing voters. Why ? Because they have a base to whom they deliver and keep engaged. It backs them up whether they are in or out of power. They don't wait until an election to go to that base. They then go after people outside their base. Think about this - moderates claim to be nonideological. Yet they are at least partly conservative. Is it any wonder they are often Republican lite. They don't go with their liberal instincts as much. If they did the Democratic Party might be in better shape and the rightwing thrust at state levels might be blunted. For this reason its's often questionable what good is moderation if is skewered to the right more often than not.

Don't worry most liberals like me will vote for Biden and other moderate Democrats in November. Not all of us our the purists or lefty extremist pundits and the media claim we are. Many of us still hold out hope that moderates will manifest some degree of liberalism that will be beneficial. But the ugly truth is nothing is guaranteed.

None of this is to say that liberals are above criticism. Our politics and society are in trouble due in part to the failures of liberalism. Liberals have failed to defend their tradition and values from conservative attacks. They have become too comfortable with the monied and powerful so they won't do anything about capitalism's excesses. Lastly too many liberals wrongly make the false choice between economic issues and those termed identity politics. Both need to be brought together as part of a politics of freedom.

Center left, yes you are correct. The biggest problem is that there are no proper laws in this country. The reason is the arrogant "island" view that the US knows it all and never will copy things which work elsewhere. Just look at the "healthcare" mess. The Constitution is been clobbered by all the zillion lawyers here, instead of keeping it up to date with developments in this country over time; the few amendments don't cut it either, just look at the silly outdated "gun" one. Also the so called "impeachment "trial?" showed that the Constitution can be manipulated as you like (because whole pieces where never written or omitted to cover the present day society because they never knew what would happen in 2020). "Case laws" don't not work either because that needs lots of research and no "case" is actually the same, but the lawyers will "make" it the same. Our laws need an total overhaul/update, but no one wants to do it because this country is set in their ways to keep the corrupt "cults" in place. There is enough documentation to proof my point. This is an super corrupt country and they want to keep it that way, ask the Trump family and all our billionaires. Just view the documentary "Dirty Money" on Netflix that shows enough to get the barf bucket.
