Currently watching Alan Dershowitz give his legal argument. He comes off just like various phd Scientists that can be found on the internet that provide wacko scientific arguments that the world is flat. The right jargon is used to make the entire argument sound plausible, but the only people who are convinced are the people who already believe the world is flat.

Bottomline, Dershowitz's argument is the argument he has always wanted to give before the Supreme Court since the 1970s when Nixon was about to be impeached. My guess if that he were giving this argument before the Supreme Court, all the justices would tear his argument apart with their questions, and he would lose 7-0.

Like Giuliani and Trump, Dershowitz is addicted to the public spotlight, and uses his talents, skills, and knowledge to interject himself into high profile legal cases.

At the most simplest level, it appears that Republicans are making the big bet that make they can use the "Hind Sight Excuse" and "plausible denial". At the future date they will say "Its not our fault. We had no idea Donald Trump had done so many criminal things, Of course we would have done things differently if we knew the full truth during the impeach trial.". In other words, elected Republicans in congress don't want to know the full truth now because they have a very valid fear that Trump has done far worse than what is currently known. They fear its just the tip of the crimes he has committed as president. By not knowing the truth now, they can later claim that Trump hid the truth from Republicans so that they could not make a proper judgement.

I just like to ask the question: Is all of this "normal"? Sorry I've never seen such unbelievable B.S. Which school did McConnell and Roberts go? All of this is so terrible "cooked" up, that it looks like kindergarten on an school trip. Is there no shame at all in this country that we elect such terrible dumb asses? How is it possible that people here elect an NY "mob" boss as President? The total refusal of the dumb masses here to dive into the past of this guy and his corrupt family is amazing. What do they teach here in the schools, only about the flag, prayer, America number one, how fantastic our army is etc. but nothing about "behavior", especially in electing "leaders"

This "impeachment" show, really shows that this country is barely 250 years old without any "solid" foundation and missing strict "laws" for our leaders as well has proper elections "without" billions of "money" and no screening of the candidates beforehand. Also the refusal to use lie detectors in this "fake impeachment court" makes it an total circus.

Sorry but this country still lives in the stone age related to laws and justice. Trump uses that to his advantage. It is still "cowboys" and "indians".

I had a hard time trying to watch the Republicans defend Trump yesterday. I eventually gave up and decided I'll trust Ari Melber to give me his take. Not only were their presentations full of the same Trump lies but were really boring. Trump's defense team seems to be focusing only on reinforcing his base, but I would bet that even they got bored yesterday with the meandering legal take on why the House inquiry didn't meet judicial standards. Sheesh.

No mention of the John Bolton book either. I guess they didn't have time to concoct a story around those revelations. Of course Trump denies that he had a conversation with Bolton about withholding Ukraine aid as described by Bolton.

So yes. Republican Senators will plead ignorance of the Bolton book findings and just proceed down their path. Despite what Romney says, I am not confident that four Republican Senators will vote for Bolton as a witness and Trump may still go all out to block him.

We've already discussed the jury tampering that Trump is involved with. In essence, he has asked wealthy donors to contribute to the campaigns of vulnerable GOP senators to improve their chances of getting re-elected. Since the senators are, in effect, members of the jury in the senate trial, what he is doing is literally tampering with the jury.

Yesterday, he sent out a tweet that actually threatened Adam Schiff:

“Shifty Adam Schiff is a CORRUPT POLITICIAN, and probably a very sick man. He has not paid the price, yet, for what he has done to our Country!” According to Jake Tapper, Schiff HAS been getting death threats.

On top of that, Republican senators were threatened that their heads would be put “on a pike” if they went against the president.

If we were to were able to dig up the facts from within organized crime in NY, we would likely discover that organized crime long ago rejected Trump as because the learn long ago he is a "total fuck up" that includes your personal description of Trump as person and businessman; someone with big F'ing mouth that never shuts up. If he had been part of organized crime, he would have suddenly disappeared decades ago, and never to be found just like Jimmy Hoffa.

Using the Godfather analogy, where the Godfather wanted his son Michael to stay out of family business; he wanted Michael to enter politics, and become president someday. The story would change, and the Godfather would find his dimwitted son Fredo (aka Donald Trump), who always f's up the most basic deals, becomes president, and proceeds to fuck everything up just as bad as president. In the original Godfather story, Fredo is kept out of the inner circle because he was a screw up, same goes for Trump in real life. Organized crime does not to have anything to do with Trump.

Trump is president as a result of perfect storm. If 2020 were a face off again between HC and Trump. She would win, and win by a bigger margin because voters have seen first hand Trump is the worst president in the history of this country.

Then maybe some more testimony from witnesses (Bolton??) if we're lucky.

Imagine during Watergate, congress debating if John Dean should testify, or if White House audio recordings should be considered as evidence after the Supreme court ruled that Nixon needed to turn over the tapes. It would be absurd to deny.

Republicans truly don't want to know what Trump has been doing behind closed doors, and are looking for some kind of escape that blocks direct testimony and other factual evidence while also giving them political safety from voter backlash. I perceive Republican leaders fear is that Donald Trump will single handedly destroy the Republican party, and they are so far into Trump's shit right now, they want to stay ignorant of his sleeze ball activities until the 2020 election, where Republican leaders pray even harder than democrats that Trump loses in a landslide. Actually, they probably pray that he dies in in sleep, so Mike Pence becomes president.

No he's not the "Godfather", I guess you forget that he said "someone from above sent him"; yes the evangelicals indeed think so.

Also kind of weird is, that Netanyahoo visited him today; Wow, two criminals together, both under investigation.

Fantastic timing by Trump. Be proud of both of these hypocrites.

    Here's more details:

Mitch McConnell, the Majority Leader, got funds from both Ken Starr and Robert Ray prior to the outset of the Senate trial, and just prior to an unbelievable public statement from Leader McConnell.

Starr also maxed out a donation to Lindsey Graham, the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Trump’s other lawyers, Jay Sekulow and Pat Cipollone, are also implicated in the OpenSecrets report, sending money to Ted Cruz and John Thune, two Republican defenders of Trump who have been more than slightly vocal in their efforts.

Yes, and who is going throw all of these guys on jail? I guess no one; like Mulvany would say, "we do that all the time".

Wake up Democrats, you are being screwed over with open eyes.

State-run television (FOX) is getting crazier by the day.

Here's Sean Hannity on Mitt Romney:

“All I see, with all due respect Mitt Romney, is your personal hatred for Donald Trump,” Hannity raged, noting that the Senate should not do what the House failed to do — hear from Bolton and others.

Of course, the House failed to do this because Trump blocked witnesses and documents from the House impeachment inquiry, which is why Bolton refused to appear. Since then, Bolton has volunteered to testify to the Senate if called.

As Artie Johnson used to say on "Laugh In" , "very interesting".

Today, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski submitted a very interesting question to Trump's attorney Patrick Philbin.

COLLINS/MURKOWSKI: Did Trump ever express worry about corruption in Ukraine before Biden started running?

TRUMP LAWYER PHILBIN: I can't point to something in the record that shows him mentioning something related to the Bidens. But he did talk about corruption in Ukraine.

In other words, before Joe Biden announced his candidacy, did Trump express concerns about corruption in Ukraine?

    The answer is "NO".

Trump's "dream team" also includes Alan Dershowitz, who just made the strongest case yet for calling witnesses.

Surprisingly, he voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016. During the 2020 Democratic Party primaries, Dershowitz endorsed Joe Biden. He said: "I'm a strong supporter of Joe Biden. I like Joe Biden. I've liked him for a long time, and I could enthusiastically support Joe Biden." He criticized Bernie Sanders, saying: "I don't think under any circumstances I could vote for a man who went to England and campaigned for a bigot and anti-Semite like Jeremy Corbyn.

I have been watch through out the day. The one of the most absurd arguments was (paraphrasing): "The president can use the powers of the presidency for his personal gain as long as he also believes it in the best interest of the country"

No F'ing joke, Dershowitz made that argument.

Probably the most realistic statement (or threat) made by Trump's defense team was that if the Senate voted to have witnesses, Trump would string out the impeachment process for as long as they could, claiming executive privilege on everything piece of paper and every single witness no matter who they were, and appealing all decisions not made in their favor. They would file multiple lawsuits strictly for the purpose to tie things up.... What was being communicated, was "Trump is willing to make sure everybody goes down with ship, He is not Nixon willing do what is best for the country, Trump will take the country down with him"
