Patrick Crusius, a 21 year old white male from the Dallas area, killed 19 people (latest count) with an additional 40 injured. I do not purport to understand his motives but here's one report:

El Paso Shooter Identified Online As Trump Supporter Who Didn’t Like ‘Race Mixing’

"The suspect in a deadly mass shooting at a shopping mall in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday was widely identified on the internet as a young white man whose social media activity showed support and sympathy for the president’s apparent white nationalist agenda. The name and photos of a man purported to be Patrick Crusius quickly circulated across Twitter in the hours after the shooting at Cielo Vista Mall was first reported. If those reports were accurate, Crusius, allegedly a Texas native, just turned 21 last week."

"A manifesto purportedly written by Crusius, perhaps even in the hours before the shooting attack that according to one report left at least 18 people dead, was left behind. Pages of the manifesto included anti-immigrant rhetoric with the author going into depth on why he is “against race mixing,” supports the idea to “send them back” and offering a prediction of “genocide.”"

MSNBC is reporting that the El Paso mass shooting is the 249th mass shooting in the USA so far in 2019...this year. I thought that number seemed high so I Googled it. The number quoted is 248 as of July 31, 2019.

Wikipedia: List of mass shootings in the United States in 2019

So as of August 3rd, Day 216 of this year 2019, the number of mass shootings is indeed 249. That's well more than one a day. Kind of hard to keep up with these shootings. Extra thoughts and prayers are needed for this one. However, Moscow Mitch needs to quit blocking common sense gun legislation.

    Schmidt:

We might as well declare young white males as a terrorist organization, since that group commits the highest number of shootings.

This guy is anti-immigrant and he supported the Christchurch shooter.

Although the shooting isn't directly Trump's fault, his anti-immigrant stance definitely encouraged the shooter.

The article below also mentions that he had been a contributor to 8Chan.

8Chan is a controversial message board that has been described as “the home of the most vitriolic content on the internet” by Vox.

The story above also includes a picture of his home in Allen, Texas, and it appears to be a prosperous area.

It's not clear what kind of weapon that he used, but it MAY have been an AK47.

The shooting stopped because he ran our of ammunition.

Words have impact. Trump doesn’t give a shit what the impact of his words are other than re-election. While he didn’t pull the trigger Trump is most definitely responsible.

Another 9 dead on Ohio. The "Hypocrite" says now he'll support the inquiry(s) . What a joke, while he's hugging La Pierre.

Yes people, thanks for electing this racist. What are the Dem's doing? Getting rid of the "electoral college'? Keep on dreaming!!!

Dems are doing today exactly what they did yesterday. Sitting in their 950.00 office chair with their mouths open saying wow, it never ends. Should I say something ? No, the Sunday morning news shows have scheduled their picks and we have nearly zero following on social media. "You can bet that I will say some nasty poignant things at the coffee machine". Well thanks for that. Seems quite close to being useless.

Terrorism is what's happening. White doesn't make it alright. Dems should be furthering the conversation starting Monday morning. Back ground checks are wanted by a huge percentage but it doesn't happen.

T.J. correct; I hear all the "sob" stories on TV as usual; but I bet nothing will be done; only words like "praying" etc.

Also we need gun control. Wow. Someone came up with needing an "licence" to own a gun. Nuts! The people who have guns already hide them in their closet at home and claim they don't have a gun. Sorry but the quantity of the 350 million guns around only grows. The same with the number of "nut heads" who own them. Again it is the "mental health" in this country what is the cause; having an President who is "mental" does not help much either.

All of this is an self inflicted wound, caused by interpreting the second amendment the wrong way by certain corrupt lawyers who did interpret "militia" being the same as "civilians" I read that amendment, so don't give me B.S.

Thus the only solution is to repeal/change the wording in that amendment as well educate people here the proper way about "culture" in the world; the "white " race is not the sole inhabitant of this planet. By the way "Jesus" was an "Arab" looking person as McNuchin. Thus not "white at all.

Only Tom Steyer had the right statements and not the same "old"

Cory Booker on Meet The Press today,

you need a license to own a car or vehicle, you need a license to drive a vehicle, you should have a license to own a gun. Great Idea. And, how about more stringent background checks too, more extensive, like having the FBI or homeland security check your twitter, facebook and other social media accounts before you're issued a gun license or are able to acquire a gun. How about putting an end to gun shows where morons can buy guns without going through background checks.

I think I'll be voting for Cory Booker, he's the only democrat that makes any sense. youtube.com/watch?v=H0qTKbPm01I

Sorry Dock; that won't work, since there are already 350 million guns around, increasing daily. So what are you going to do, with all these people who own them already for years without any "background check"? As well the "private" selling between people? Let alone all the guns which disappeared in all our wars and are now "illegally" sold all over the place. The few guns which are sold via "background" checks is "peanuts" compared to what is floating around in this country. Wake up America; you are now the "game" instead of any poor deer.

Sorry, Booker is all words; no action. By the way read my "mail above yours "about "licences" etc.

Just saw this on social media. Hate is not a mental illness. Hopefully many people continue to speak out. Approx. 250 mass shootings and it's only early August.

So basically, you're saying forget about gun legislation because it won't do any good because there's already too many guns out here and there's too many gun nuts, and any gun laws are meaningless because they're meant to be broken. okay. I see where you're coming from. We should all avoid going to places where many people gather, malls, bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and the like, we should just stay in our homes and try to be safe, maybe even fortify our walls and windows in case of drive by shooters, then we'll be safe.

I sort of get the drift you're pulling for Tom Steyer, a billionaire, we already have one billionaire as president. Isn't Tom Steyer a vulture capitalist? Hedge fund capitalist? Makes and has made money from other people's misfortunes?

I know why people don't like blacks running for public office, those people think blacks aren't intelligent enough to lead or make new laws, but Obama broke that wives tale. Americans prefer rich white men to lead.

"On August 6, 1945, during World War II (1939-45), an American B-29 bomber dropped the world’s first deployed atomic bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima, immediately killing 80,000 people. Three days later, a second bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, killing an estimated 40,000 people."

Not enough people have died with guns in mass shootings yet to legislate them out of American gun culture.

120,000 Japanese people died instantly and the war ended. Why did the US government kill Japanese citizens/civilians?

Maybe not enough American citizens have died yet to make a difference in how lawmakers approach gun control. Maybe many more people need to die before that happens. Let's put a number on how many people are killed before they seriously think about controlling or eliminating guns altogether.

It's not just being shot it's that lack of comfort and security that makes someone sending their children to a bus stop or their own walk to catch a train where existence is in jeopardy.

I disagree with Dutch about maling changes. Yes 350M guns is insurmountable but some changes including background checks might help somewhat. I will take 5 or 10% safer. It's a start.

A couple of years ago, I'm sitting on a bench in my local Walmart, with my wife, and I see some guy passing by with a pistol strapped on his waist/hip, I whispered to her, let's get the hell outa here, and we did. At a local laundromat, the owner's friend came in and was carrying a pistol too, while my wife and both watched him. I approached him and asked him why he carried a gun? He replied because I can. We have not gone back there since.

Dock, sorry but I guess you did not read my message correctly . Therefore I repeat: how are you going to register 350 million guns who are in the hands of people who never had an background check? Furthermore are the police going from house to house asking if you have a gun? I guess not. So, I'm saying, it is impossible to be able to do any proper gun control other than an background check on "newly" legally purchased guns. Thus all the other 350 million guns just have become household "goods" which no one can control . Sorry the only solution is to "ban" them altogether; which never will happen. Only "bandaids" can be used which does nothing to curtail gun violence. Amen
